Have you ever seen a dog when he knows he has done something wrong? They seem to be shamed, though I am no expert. They hang their tail between their legs and their shoulders sag and they sure look shamed anyhow.

i say we should train animals to be police and lawyers and let them sort it out

:p

well actully that was my next point..

rape is only rape as we know it cos law says it is...

if u dont have law.. u dont have rape.. as in the animal world
animals do not punish one another for such acts..

:ninja i think thats what im trying to say. i cant write out clearly whats in my head.. so sorry if that makes no sense..

based on bris comment..

is it possible for an animal to rape another animal?

*not reading rest of thread yet*

Some scientists think that dolphins are smarter then humans, just less advanced because of where they live, and the types of bodies they have. Dolphins are also the only other animal, either then humans, to not only enjoy sex, but to do it for fun. There have actually been documented cases of groups of male dolphins, surrounding a female dolphin, and then each forcibly having sex with her.

This isn't something dolphins naturally do, it's something they have figured out and learned from each other. And in the dolphin language, the female is saying no, and the male is having sex with her anyways, therefore it is rape.

For animals its there way of life I guess, they get the urge to mate to reproduce.

Males get the urge to have sex here to, doesn't mean they get away with rape.

They don't have relationships (that we know of), well, I suppose some do, but it's differnt, like how a lion will stay home to look after the cubs while the lioness goes out to get the food.

Dolphins are different, I didn't say animals in general, I said the smartest animal (either then humans) dolphins, can rape other dolphins.

We consider it rape because we have free will, we can speak and acknowledge each others feelings.

Many experts believe that dolphins speak a language like us. This language is composed of whistles, barking, meowing, clicks and all other sorts of strange sounds.
They even use words, and have a proper grammar.

I suppose the problem is, because animals can't talk, we are never going to know.

These experts are deciphering the dolphin language, someday we might even have a machine to produce the language, and to translate back into our own. Someday we might actually talk to a dolphin.

Until then, we have to rely on studying behavior. Scientists watching dolphin gang rapes, have noted the female using body behavior and extreme distress (while also making a large amount of 'noise') to show no interest in being apart of the sex acts. While the males, continue to surround and force the females, even when it's fairly obvious she is saying 'No'

Mating is in their natural instinct. Therefore, would it really be considered rape? Humans have more free will and are able to express their feelings and desires

Dolphins are just as capable at expressing their feelings and desires in a language of their own. In the dolpins world, sex is just as natural as it is to us, it is a natural want, but not a need, they don't just go up and start humping a female. Unless, of course, they are rapists.

What must of you don't seem to get, is how smart dolphins really are.

And how delicious they are.

I like it how you automatically think I'm a vegan or something just because I appreciate animal behavior and intellegence.

When the fact of the matter is I train matter for fairs---to sell them for slaughter.

Yes they are smart, and delicious. Useful combination.

I don't think you're a vegan. But I do like how you jump with both feet into the victim role. How dare I.

You saw me as someone who loves animals because I think dolphins are smart, so you tried to start some sort of argument by saying they were delicious.
