Thank you Bad Boy.

Not to mention that no way no how is it anyone's "duty" to have sex with someone else. Married or not! Sex is ALWAYS a choice. When it's not, it's rape.

Guess what hunny?

That's what they call an opinion.

Now I share your opinion, however some religions and cultures have the beliefs that the Woman is the Man's property, and lives to serve the man. If the man wants sex, they believe the woman has to give it to him. There are also countries in which if a woman gets raped by a man, it's the fault of the women for wearing revealing clothing or putting herself in that situation.

Joker, I'd wager quite a lot of money that nobody on this board lives in any area of the world where that is the case. Where we collectively live, the fact of the matter is that my opinion may well be just an opinion but it's one shared by the law.

I'd agree with the fact that nobody lives there.

But do you honestly think that point should be ignored in this debate?

It's an opinion. Actually, everything's an opinion.

so anyway.. this is going off topic a little. the point i was making was that some humans are animalistic..which brings me back to the original debate.. is it possible for an animal to rape another animal.. and proceed.

some say yes.. bri mentioned in her thread that dolphins can be gang raped..

some say no.. they dont know right from wrong..

and proceed..

For animals its there way of life I guess, they get the urge to mate to reproduce.

They don't have relationships (that we know of), well, I suppose some do, but it's differnt, like how a lion will stay home to look after the cubs while the lioness goes out to get the food.

We consider it rape because we have free will, we can speak and acknowledge each others feelings.

I suppose the problem is, because animals can't talk, we are never going to know.

Mating is in their natural instinct. Therefore, would it really be considered rape? Humans have more free will and are able to express their feelings and desires

Would you say it is rape if they do it for pleasure and the other isn't consenting, and if they do it simply to reproduce and its in their nature to mate with the first other that they find when they need to would that not be rape?

so sex for pleasure without consent in animals is rape
sex to reproduce isn't?

I'm getting myself confused trying to make sense of the free will thing.

If Dolphins do it for pleasure, it can be considered rape if another dolphin doesn't want to do it. Because sex for pleasure is a personal thing, something you desire or wan, if you do it without the others permission, its rape.

Animals that don't have sex for pleasure, only to reproduce, it's not rape in the sense that its a fact of life for them. They don't do it for pleasure, they do it for survival

We can analyze this into the ground. But animals, much like humans have a protocol for mating that they follow.

The female naturally looks for the alpha male, or a male she thinks can produce good offspring and perhaps protect the young.

The males search for an appealing mate (although normally in the wild the mlaes will mate with whatever female will let them....Interesting parallel to real life)

The male has to work to get the females approval to mate.

And then, in what look romantic to animals I guess is the male mounts the female, and in a lot of cases attempts submission of the female (bitting the neck etc) and the act happens.

And much like in real life, it might not always be obvious if the female enjoys it....But it's obvious to everyone that the male does. And just like in real life....The male ejaculates....No matter what:p

So there are rituals in the animal world, just like our world, there are rules....Parameters.

Stepping outside those parameters is against the law of whatever species you are in.

It's just really difficult to prosecute a dog:D (of the canine variety)

See THIS is what annoys me.

How do you know it's different?

How do you know they don't have free will?

How do you know they don't speak to each other or acknowledge each others feelings?

Animals can talk, just not in our language.

How do you know we have more free will?

The fact of the matter is you don't.

And we don't know their beliefs system or their laws.

So we'd only ever be able to assume.

I didn't say they can't communicate, I'm talking about it from our point of view. We don't know what they think or feel, we can only guess. So I'm hazarding a guess, whilst saying what I think is a possiblity of a view as an outsider.

I agree with Badboy@thewheels post, rep :thumbup

ok.. so animals can communicate with one another.. doesn't have to be through sound.. body language.. if a lion mounts a lioness and she attacks him.. she clearly isn't up for it. the lion may persist.. and have another go.. in human world.. this would be attempted rape..or sexual assault.. the woman would feel violated..

as far as i know the animals have no such emotion.
they dont know embarrassment or shame
