Dear Monday,

I know we've been seeing one another once a week for the last few decades, but I believe it's time we bring our relationship to an end. This isn't something I just wanted to come out and say, but after a lot of thought, I feel it's the only way. I've been seeing your friends Friday Night and Saturday for quite a while now, and to be perfectly honest, they're just more my type.

I know, I know this is difficult to hear. I'm sure there's somebody out there for you. This is a big world, and someday you are going to find a person who enjoys being jolted from a relaxing weekend full of fun into the harsh reality of life you dish out every time you come around. I'm just not the kind of person you need. I cringe as the hour of your arrival draws near, because I know your visit will be laced with stress and grumpiness.

So, it is with a not so heavy heart that I end our 27 year relationship. Please, do not come to see me again. You can take Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with you as well. Though not nearly as painful to spend time with as you are, they still serve to remind me of the difficult times I've experienced with you.

We'll both be much happier this way, I swear. You will not have to deal with my grumblings when I realize you're making me wake early and get a move on, and I can enjoy the pleasures only your brothers Friday and Saturday know how to give.
