Okay, I was surprised when that Chris Allen guy went through instead of Megan. I bet she'll be back for the Wildcard round, though.

So...my rundown on what I thought of tonight's episode (which, by the way, apparently everyone that I've EVER known has decided that I shouldn't be allowed to watch American Idol uninterrupted...I missed FIVE of the performances and had to play them back later!!!).

Lil - I think she's GREAT. My brother said he thought she was horrible and generic...I called him stupid, deaf, and insignificant since he's not an AI fan anyway. LOL

Scott -
It was just kinda "ehh" for me. I didn't know the song (always a big minus for me) but he seemed to do okay.

Danny -
I was surprised w/ the song choice but thought he did a good job. I love this guy...he's got a great range and is kind of a little cute in a nerdy way. Having said that, I like when he sings the slow pretty songs better.

Michael - I thought he did a good job but I wasn't blown away. His little girl was cute in her "Vote for my daddy" t-shirt, though.

Jasmine - Ehhhh...I really don't remember a whole lot about her performance, which is a shame b/c she's actually GOT a good voice when she'll use it. I will say, though, that her family is full of very pretty women.

Kris - Oh man, that was one pissed off wife in the audience after Simon commented that he shouldn't have brought the wife out this early in the game. Funny thing is, Simon is right b/c I had already thought it, too. I liked his performance but I think he's gonna lose some of the girls that were voting for him b/c they thought he was cute. By the way, did anybody else notice the captioning screw up??? It had Simon saying he "didn't autopsy a single word" that Paula said. LOL!!! I laughed, too, at Randy's "very well job done"...WTF does that mean???

Allison - Also didn't know the song that she picked. BUT I love her voice, her look, and her personality. I think she'll be around for a while.

Anoop -
Absolutely HATED the song choice, but then again, I've never liked that song. I didn't think his performance was as bad as the judges made it out to be, but I do think he hurt himself this round.

Jorge - I recognized bits and pieces of the song, but didn't know it that well. He was obviously out of his comfort zone and it showed.

Megan - OMG, could she have picked an older song!?!?!? For realz, that song is probably 50 or more years old (the original, of course). I frigging LOVE her voice, but Paula was dead on w/ what she said about not really being able to hear it in that performance. I have to say, though, I didn't realize she was so attractive in her audition...she's a very pretty girl.

Adam - LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE HIM!!! I absolutely think he'll be in the finals. My brother absolutely HATED everything about him. I was really hoping that he would sing Dirty Diana (my all time favorite MJ song), but I think he did a great job w/ what he sang.

Matt - Last week his clothes reminded me of him and this week his whole look and style reminded me of him...total Justin Timberlake clone. BUT that's a good thing. I really really liked his performance.

Alexis - I think Simon was too hard on her...I liked her performance. Plus she's just so damn cute and tiny. Glad someone did Dirty Diana...I love that song!!!

My predictions on who will go home tomorrow night??? Hmmm...Jasmine and...hmmm, I'm gonna say Anoop.

Now...they said they've changed the rules of the game. My guess is that it is something to the effect of the judges having final say on who goes home (maybe out of the bottom 3 vote getters or something). I could be wrong...I guess we'll just see.

And that is my non-solicited review of Week 1 of Season 8. :D

I flipped back and forth when the Spurs game had a time out. Missed virtually every performance. Caught most of the critiques. :(
Are they letting them use instruments now? That's new.

I agree with most of what you said - I did think Alexis Grace oversang a bit, and the only comment I have about Chris Allen is that he looks like a camel when he sings - if you caught it, you'll know exactly what I mean.

I agree that Anoop is going home, and probably Jasmine. Maybe Michael - I thought he was BORING, but the judges loved what he did, so who knows?

Here are my top 5, in no particular order:

Danny
Adam
Lil
Allison
Alexis

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out with the new rule. I wasn't surprised that they didn't keep the 2 that left last night.

I LOVE the Adam guy! He has got some talent!!

My daughter keeps asking me if I want Kris Allen to win (cause he is from Arkansas). I think he can sing but he isnt as good as that Adam guy.

My favorite girl is Megan. Something about her voice that I really like

why the hell are they keeping anoop on there I dont see any talent at all in him

I actually disagree w/ you there. Baaaaaaaaaaad song choice this week, but he actually DOES have a very good voice.

Here are my top 5, in no particular order:

Danny
Adam
Lil
Allison
Alexis

I concur w/ that top 5. ;) I like Megan, too, but I think she'll make it about as far as Brooke White did last season.

If I had to pick the finale right now, I'd say Adam and Danny...or Adam and Allison. Things could shape up differently, though...hell, I went from hating David Cook at the beginning of the season to loving him and voting for him religiously. LOL

There's your top 3, peeps. :D

I really, really like Meagan. I hope she gets her shit together and starts blowing everyone away with that voice of hers. She's too cute for words.

You're definitely NOT the only one, Amber!!! I actually DO like the tone of her voice, but she has been doing REALLY poorly the past 2 weeks. It was time for her to go.

But WTF...why is Allison in the bottom 3 again!?!?!? That's nuts!!! Granted, I didn't like her performance that much this week, but she was still a lot better than some of the others.

I hate that Megan went home...but she was dumb when it came to what songs would suit her voice. That's the thing about her, her voice is sooo unique that it really puts a limit on her song choices and what will sound good. She can't get away with singing the wrong song, because when it's wrong for her it's VERY wrong. I'm surprised she didn't have someone wiser advising her off camera...you'd think someone would tell her what songs she needed to sing. I was hoping she'd do some Amy Winehouse...or hell even Gnarls Barkley lol.

Here are my thoughts:

Megan has been making some poor song choices, but I do like her voice because she's different. I'm not surprised that she went home - I was hoping it wouldn't be this soon.

I was surprised too that Alison was in the bottom three this week - again! Her performance wasn't the best, but right now I think she's kicking Lil's butt.

As for Lil, she needs to start making better choices or she's going to be in trouble too. She's got an amazing voice - I wish someone would advise her better with songs. She needs to bring it in a big way next week.

I thought Anoop should go home. He's been borderline for me since the beginning and he's not really getting any better.

And I have to say, for the first time this week, Chris impressed me. A LOT!!! I really didn't like him before now - thought he was boring. Now he's creeping up there.

Matt just flat out doesn't do it for me. In all of his performances where the judges raved about him, I didn't see it. Still don't.

I thought Scott did really well this week, but I don't think he's really any competition for Danny and Adam.

Adam is solid and consistent. I don't always like what he does (the "Ring of Fire" debacle) but at least he is Adam every week. I think he's ultimately going to win it.

And Danny is my favorite.
