Okay, I was surprised when that Chris Allen guy went through instead of Megan. I bet she'll be back for the Wildcard round, though.
So...my rundown on what I thought of tonight's episode (which, by the way, apparently everyone that I've EVER known has decided that I shouldn't be allowed to watch American Idol uninterrupted...I missed FIVE of the performances and had to play them back later!!!).
Lil - I think she's GREAT. My brother said he thought she was horrible and generic...I called him stupid, deaf, and insignificant since he's not an AI fan anyway. LOL
Scott - It was just kinda "ehh" for me. I didn't know the song (always a big minus for me) but he seemed to do okay.
Danny - I was surprised w/ the song choice but thought he did a good job. I love this guy...he's got a great range and is kind of a little cute in a nerdy way. Having said that, I like when he sings the slow pretty songs better.
Michael - I thought he did a good job but I wasn't blown away. His little girl was cute in her "Vote for my daddy" t-shirt, though.
Jasmine - Ehhhh...I really don't remember a whole lot about her performance, which is a shame b/c she's actually GOT a good voice when she'll use it. I will say, though, that her family is full of very pretty women.
Kris - Oh man, that was one pissed off wife in the audience after Simon commented that he shouldn't have brought the wife out this early in the game. Funny thing is, Simon is right b/c I had already thought it, too. I liked his performance but I think he's gonna lose some of the girls that were voting for him b/c they thought he was cute. By the way, did anybody else notice the captioning screw up??? It had Simon saying he "didn't autopsy a single word" that Paula said. LOL!!! I laughed, too, at Randy's "very well job done"...WTF does that mean???
Allison - Also didn't know the song that she picked. BUT I love her voice, her look, and her personality. I think she'll be around for a while.
Anoop - Absolutely HATED the song choice, but then again, I've never liked that song. I didn't think his performance was as bad as the judges made it out to be, but I do think he hurt himself this round.
Jorge - I recognized bits and pieces of the song, but didn't know it that well. He was obviously out of his comfort zone and it showed.
Megan - OMG, could she have picked an older song!?!?!? For realz, that song is probably 50 or more years old (the original, of course). I frigging LOVE her voice, but Paula was dead on w/ what she said about not really being able to hear it in that performance. I have to say, though, I didn't realize she was so attractive in her audition...she's a very pretty girl.
Adam - LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE HIM!!! I absolutely think he'll be in the finals. My brother absolutely HATED everything about him. I was really hoping that he would sing Dirty Diana (my all time favorite MJ song), but I think he did a great job w/ what he sang.
Matt - Last week his clothes reminded me of him and this week his whole look and style reminded me of him...total Justin Timberlake clone. BUT that's a good thing. I really really liked his performance.
Alexis - I think Simon was too hard on her...I liked her performance. Plus she's just so damn cute and tiny. Glad someone did Dirty Diana...I love that song!!!
My predictions on who will go home tomorrow night??? Hmmm...Jasmine and...hmmm, I'm gonna say Anoop.
Now...they said they've changed the rules of the game. My guess is that it is something to the effect of the judges having final say on who goes home (maybe out of the bottom 3 vote getters or something). I could be wrong...I guess we'll just see.
And that is my non-solicited review of Week 1 of Season 8.![]()
They did it last year, too.I flipped back and forth when the Spurs game had a time out. Missed virtually every performance. Caught most of the critiques.![]()
Are they letting them use instruments now? That's new.
why the hell are they keeping anoop on there I dont see any talent at all in him
Here are my top 5, in no particular order:
Danny
Adam
Lil
Allison
Alexis
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out with the new rule. I wasn't surprised that they didn't keep the 2 that left last night.

I don't see it.I actually disagree w/ you there. Baaaaaaaaaaad song choice this week, but he actually DOES have a very good voice.
