And honestly retro that was with Dave Rader as OC at Ole Miss, the most vanilla mind in college football

Unfortunately, Pat Hill has the most vanilla mind in college football. Who else runs the ball up the middle for 8 straight plays on the 2, with their smallest RB (Robbie Rouse, 5'6", 190lbs), gets lucky on the 1st 4th down because of a penalty, and then finally gets the TD on the 2nd 4th down.

Sigh.

We need an actual offensive coordinator... right now we have a pass coordinator and a run coordinator, but Hill calls the plays. /facepalm We had such a dynamic offense in 2007 with McElwain as our OC, with Brandstater as our QB even, and then fucking Saban had to come steal him from us.

Oh, and we have a 6' 5-7" (depending on what reports you read) WR that redshirted this last season that projects to be an absolute beast in the red zone. He runs a 4.54 40 and has an absolute monster vertical to go along with his height. I've seen some video of Carr throwing a fade route to him in the back of the endzone, and not a single one of our DBs has even come close to being able to defend it.

We also have a former 4-star RB in Milton Knox coming on board this year, he transferred from UCLA because he was behind their star RB on the depth chart and Neuheisel told him he'd never be higher even if he performed better. So he sat out last season and has said he's out to prove something this season.

I forgot McElwain was there. I think he wants out of AL. Him and Sunseri interview for every opening under the sun. And Sunseris son is reporting to AL this week as an early enrollee expected to play safety. He was the state of NC defensive player of the year then came to AL to finish high school when his dad went to work for Saban and was the AL defensive player of the year as a senior. The kid knows the game thats for sure. But any...Mcelwain interviewed at Colorado for the head coaching job. He runs a balanced offense but it is pretty bland.

He's intimated that he'd love to come back to Fresno if the HC position ever came open. He evidently loved it here. His offenses weren't very bland out here to be honest, and that was with a sub-par QB, but he also had Ryan Mathews to use that season. I think your blandness on offense has more to do with Saban than anything... our (Dolphins) offense was incredibly bland when he was our HC, and that was with Scott Linehan and Mike Mularkey as our OCs during his two season with us.

Mark Barron is returning. We will return 9 of 11 starters on what was a solid defense this year. Definitely some holes to fill on offense, but the talent is there if we can coach'em up.

And WTF Falcons....? Seriously?

Barron returning is good for both sides of the equation... he'll only improve his draft stock staying around for another season.

In other news, our top receiver, junior Jamel Hamler, has apparently declared for the draft.

We lost half our O and D lines unfortunately... but with the injuries we had last year, our backups got a lot of playing time. Hamler is the only receiver we can lose... everyone else were sophomores or freshmen this last season. We're also losing two in the secondary, but that looks to be addition by subtraction with who they're being replaced with... guys that played last year as true freshmen that were every bit as good as our seniors.

Seahawks are getting decimated by the Bears.

I'm also abstaining from watching the second game... I hate both the Patriots and Jets. Which really sucks because I hate the Steelers too.

I was shocked to hear the Jets beat the Pattymelts. Chicago over Seattle didn't surprise me at all (or anyone else)

I didnt get to watch any of it...that sucks.

Well, on the NFC side of things... I don't care who wins between the Bears and Packers. I'm from Chicago, and am a Cubs fan, but I don't hold any alliengences to the Bears... while I'm an Aaron Rodgers fan. As long as one of them can beat the damn Jets or Steelers.

If even 25% of what I'm reading and hearing about the FBI's investigation into the Cam Newton situation turns out to be true, it will rock college football as we know it in a big way.

Hey help a brother out here, share some links man. I know almost nothing of the new developments. is it looking like the crystal trophy and Heisman will be re-claimed in short order?

A lot I've heard from some friends who are SID's or work in the SI departments of some big schools, so there aren't links.

What I have heard is that the center focus is on the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It's looking like they have been doing a nifty job of laundering money and slipping it to student athletes while hiding under the "religious" exemptions from IRS and other outside scrutiny. What has started with Auburn and Mississippi State may turn out to be way more widespread. This ain't no NCAA investigation anymore. This is FBI. They have no limits as to how wide the scope goes and the consequences could be much worse than sanctions. There is potential for a number of people in prison cells.

I thought the Thug Bowl was Baltimore and Pitt.

I heard the FBI was investigating money laundering through the so called "charity bingo" casinos in AL. I heard that had ties to AU and possibly other schools.

Well we will see. I just hope like Hell my team has kept their nose clean. Bamas past has put them on shaky ground. If they were involved in a biggy any time soon it would equal death penalty. At least for 5 years.
