Well we will see. I just hope like Hell my team has kept their nose clean. Bamas past has put them on shaky ground. If they were involved in a biggy any time soon it would equal death penalty. At least for 5 years.

I doubt the NCAA will ever use the death penalty again after it destroyed SMU's athletic program for the most part. We'll see something between USC's current sanctions and the death penalty with Auburn... at least that's my guess. Scholarship reductions, along with television and postseason bans.

You been reading what bs has been posting? That stuff is absolutely insane.

That's some of it. I saw a lot from the same sources he found. I also have some friends that are in the Sports Info departments at some SEC and other schools. There's a LOT of chatter that this FBI investigation is rapidly spreading WAY beyond Auburn or even the SEC. It has the potential to blow up at a LOT of schools, and could end up with lots of people behind bars - people as high up as Conference Commisioners.

Wonder if that happens... would the BCS kick out an entire conference from their little group?

This is kind of strange

I heard this is only the 3rd time the Packers and Bears have met in the playoffs. Goes back like 60 years to the last time they met in the playoffs.

And... for the Giant fans this is gonna hurt

If the refs had not blown the call in the first game of the year when Detroit got robbed of a win which the Bears stole. Then the Bears would not have made the playoffs and the Giants would have.

I was a Giants fan for one night, the night they beat the Pats in the SB

One of the biggest and most vocal Bama fans I've ever encountered... he posts on the forum that Ret and I came from.

Here i s oneof the links he posted, and there are more at the bottom of it:

Hell I like him already.

I warned a big Auburn fan that the shit was gonna hit the fan. He said other than bloggers he had not heard any of this. They were talking on the radio here though about it last week. I think there is some smoke

It may be a long time, but this is an FBI investigation, not NCAA. They chase money, and they chase it all the way to the top., and they have the means and power to do lots of wiretapping and subpoena any and all records they care to. When they put all the pieces together, people will be going behind bars. I have a suspicion this may change college football at every level in historic fashion.

It is about time the NCAA got its act together so some of this crap does not have to happen.

When they were talking about Auburn one of the so called local pundits opined that he figures all of the recent national champions were dirty as hell.

Time to figure out how to deal with money. Maybe let them have agents to a limited degree and the agents bankroll them. Let them make commercials and act like the pros that many of them have been since middle school

Is it a bad sign that Rivals posts the top 50 recruiting classes and USF doesn't appear on it?

Yeah... though it did... :(

We're sitting at like 97th or something disgusting like that. Our last 4-star prospect decommitted three weeks before last season started (though he was only a punter). The one before that is DC2, and he's going to be our starting QB this year. Other than those two, I don't know if we've ever had a prospect greater than a 3-star rating (of which we have two right now). It sucks being 5th in line in this state after USC, UCLA, Cal, and Stanford. We get most of the recruits that are offered by either SDSU or SJSU and us, but it's rare (other than last season) to pull anyone away from the allure of the Pac-10 (12).

Oh wait, we did grab a 4-star receiver from Cal last year, so three in the last... I don't know 10 years?

Scout has us at 89th now after they upgraded one of our recruits to 3-star from a 2-star. Probably had something to do with the 4.38 40 he just ran. O.O Local kid too, from one of the highschools in the smallish city I live in. The other contributing factor was that we just picked up another 3-star LB.

I can't even find our ranking with Rivals, but they're also missing a bunch of our recruits, and have what they do have listed ranked lower than Scout.

We are at #1 on Rivals and we are in the mix for 2 of the top 10 players in the country (Clowney and Kouandjio).

Either you guys, Texas, or USC are going to end up with the consensus #1 recruiting class. USC is still in the mix for another 2-3 very highly regarded recruits, and ESPN and Scout already have Texas as #1 last I saw.

It's amazing what Kiffen has been able to do in the face of sanctions, a post season ban, and loss of scholarships... he's still put together an amazing recruiting class. Say what you will about the guy (and I'm kinda embarrassed that he's a Fresno State grad and former assistant), he's one hell of a recruiter.

Turns out USF is number 54 on Scouts, tied with BYU.

We've got one 4-star recruit, but there is a 5-star considering us. He's a Florida boy, so we stand a chance.

Essentially, we get the left-overs from UF, FSU and Miami... but that is changing somewhat. We beat UM last year and FSU the year before and actually played UF tight for the first half until our 18 and 19 year olds folded in the Swamp. Plus we apparently have a slightly more... liberal academic acceptance policy.

Add in the fact that we play in the Big Least and stand a good shot at playing in a BCS game every year and we should get our fair share. :)
