Granted, I haven't ridden a train since I was a kid but I had awesome times. I've been cross-country a few times. CA to IL & CA to LA.

I loved sleeping on a train. I loved the cabin & the berths. Dining car, scenic car. The only thing is I was a kid. Not an adult. It might be tinier than I remember

I say go for it and have a freaking blast! At least a three-day trip.

Do you get motion sick easy? Cuz she does sway. Constantly. But I liked it. It soothed me to sleep. Besides, they have good drugs for that

I should also say I don't know what 'modern' trains are like. I was fortunate enough to travel on the Super Chief. But I would think todays trains offer the same kind of nice?

I wanna go too.......

I've never had motion sickness. Car or Boat. So I think I'll be fine on a Train.

I have taken a train from where ever my ship was in Italy to Venice and back.
Then from one side of Spain to Rota Spain.

They really are good times.

I took an eight hour train ride across New York State once. It was boring for the most part, but there was some really nice scenery. As boring as train rides are, they give you time to read that book that you never had time to finish, read the paper, chat with passengers, eat stuff. You basically have a whole block of free time to fill up.

I love Road Trips! I love the scenery for the most part. So I know I'd love that about a train trip.

I would definitely bring lots of things to do.... just like when taking a plane.

Put Corfu Greece, and really anywhere in Spain on the top of your list. Oh and Romania The have an over night tour of Draculas Castle. That was cool.

I'm thinking that if I did travel outside the U.S...... I'd definitely go to a resort of some sort that did group tours. I'd probably feel safer. The world has become so unkind.

Tell me about it. My first trip to Greece they loved us. Not so much on our second trip. There were about 100 protestors outside the gate that lead to the pier my ship was moored to. Plus a lot of anti American Garffiti every where. Same trip but a different part of Greece a buddy of mine was killed by a speed boat. Ran him over while he was snorkling..


On second thought don't go to Greece.

Everyone always talks about the Orient Express as the ultimate rail journey but not for me. Doing the train across the Nullabor would be kind of cool to say you're done it but from what I've heard it's probably the most boring thing on earth. No, what I would love to do is the trans Siberian train, probably the longest train journey on earth.

my brother and his wife took the train ride to hell back in the early 80's

I had a trip to the Rose Bowl that was the trip to hell and back too.

I have had some great trips also

It is always a crap shoot. If you do it one time only you might have a good or bad trip.

I would not let others anecdotes determine what I decided on.
