So...
Who believes in the afterlife?
I'm talking bout spirits, ghosts and other paranormal happenings.
I'd love to hear about any experiences anyone has had.
Also, have you ever had a dream that has come true?
Or a deja vu dream that you didn't realize you had until it happened in your waking life?
I've always found this kind of stuff intriguing.

i absolutely believe in an afterlife
haven't you seen that ghost hunters show? that rulez
i have a story that's kinda personal and if anyone says oh that's bullshit or makes fun i swear i will come thru the monitor and kick the crap out of you.

my gram was killed in a car accident the day after Christmas in 1995. the following february i was sorta asleep but i had my window cracked because we had these awful base board heaters that got so freakin hot. anyways, it was so cold in my room and i didn't want to get out of bed. i 'dreamt' that my gram came in and covered me with an afghan she made for me and closed my window. when i woke up, i was under my normal blankets and the afghan she made and my window was closed. i believe in my heart of hearts that it was my gram.

I do not believe in a after life or god... Depressing i know. But i am a very Logical person, if i can touch it , feel it or see it then its real to me. Or if there is scientifical facts that prove it then ill believe.

Its depressing when i truely think about it but honestly in my 23yrs i have endured more shit than i think anyone should have to deal with in there life.

I really wish there is a after life but i just dont think there is, my twin brother died last year, got hit straight on by a Semi and for the longest time i went to church to try and fill the void left after losing him, i searched for a way to find him if there was an afterlife and drew blanks.

So yeah unfortunantly i dont believe

I understand where you're coming from, Roxi.
My wife doesn't believe in God either.
But she believes in the devil. Weird, right?
No. She is not a wiccan or a satan worshipper or anything like that.
She just has her own views.
Personally, I believe there is a higher power out there.
I'm not too sure about all that Heaven and Hell stuff.
I hope this thread doesn't become offensive to anyone.

This is a subject I'm fascinated by...and Wooks...I love that show too!

I definitely believe in an afterlife, but I'm not sure on there being a higher power so much as I am it being a natural progression of life...rather the afterlife is an extension of this one, but in a dimension our eyes/brain don't always see. I don't see the paranormal as ookie or spooky per se...just another step in the journey, if that makes sense.

I have had several experiences I could not explain or debunk and I have been somewhat "sensitive" to thing since I was a child. Moreso when I was a child and then sort of lost that "talent" as I got older. But it's still sort of there.

Sorry I'm not being more specific...I'm just running out of time! lol

...and by the way, what you said wasn't offensive...it's just your point of view...you're not putting anyone else's down, just expressing your own. That's all good! :)

Most people who dont believe in God seem to believe in some form of Hell... but usually thats because they believe there is an unspoken evil in the world... i believe that but i dont believe in Hell at all.. i just believe that there is evil in the world.

I love the show ghost hunters just cause i like to pick at it and my favirot is the episodes where they call in the Demonologist's, i am a HUGE book buff on Demons and Mythology is fasinates me..!

I just don't see the point of this life if there is an eternal afterlife. What could possibly be the reason for this life with an eternal afterlife?

If there is an afterlife, it must be, obviously separate from our own. But maybe not as far away as some might think. I mean, if spirits can attempt to contact us, then as Blackcherry said, maybe we're just on a different plane and cannot communicate as well w/ them.

Maybe the point of this life IS to prepare for our afterlife. Hmmm...

Well yeah, thats the point of this life... but if its all done when we die, then what was the point? I believe we die and become worm food. Then we help to grow a tree when we die.

okay, here's a weird story from my childhood.
When I was about 6 or 7, maybe 8, I lived w/ my mom and brother in a house.
One night, I was sleep walking and wandered into my mothers room and fell asleep on the floor.
In the middle of the night, she woke me up and took me back to my room.
On the way back to my room, right in the middle of our dining room, I saw a brick wall and a face quickly peeked out from behind it and looked at me. Now, there was never a wall anywhere in the middle of our dining room. And my brother was staying at a friends house that night, so no one else was in our house. I remember having a very uneasy feeling when I saw this face, but it wasn't like I was terrified, just weirded out. I went to school the next day and told my friends that I had seen the devil in my house, LOL!!
I told my mom about it a couple days later and she's always been this strange, ouija board kinda wiccan type lady so she listened to me and found it interesting.
A year or two later, she told me that when we first moved in, the landlord had told her that an old man had lived there for many years and died of old age in his bed in the room that she slept in long before we moved in. And after digging into some more research of the man and the house, she found that the man was the original owner and that he had owned the entire block which was a plantation type farm. Our house was the only original house on that block. Anyway, he and his wife were not very social and didn't get out too much, and after his wife passed he became even more of a shut in. Apparently, the house was fenced in by a brick wall and had a gate in the front. Kids in that area would throw rocks at his door and then hide behind the wall and peek out at him when he'd answer the door. I'm not sure how much of that I truly believe, but thats what my mother told me. LOL!! Guess I should try to look up all that stuff myself.

i think about this alot lately......it could be that in this life you are repeatedly reincarnated until you get it right and go to a utopia

Actually your wife's belief system is fairly common even among Christians of the non-holy roller type. The thought of being able to come back and improve oneself through reincarnation has a certain appeal.

Yes, the appeal is the continuance of consciousness. Let's face it; nobody wants to die. Look at the monumental (no puns intended) efforts by the Egyptian Pharohs in preparing for an afterlife. So many cultures have had a belief in an afterlife but that doesn't make it true. You're worm food, baby!

I really like this idea. but I think its more of a-
You get one chance with your life, do something amazing with it, and you can go to heaven (utopia, w/e). Otherwise your just 'worm food'.

I really do like to think that there is an afterlife-it makes me think that this life is worth living, and that people should do something with it. But perhaps people should just enjoy the life they have instead of worrying about and preparing for an afterlife which may or may not happen.
