what are your takes on it. interested in hearing the guys points of views the most. was talking about it to my girlfriend a few days ago. she told me she doesnt believe in it but if i were to get her pregnant she would get an abortion. i told her no fucking way is she killing my baby. then she said fine i wont even tell you i got pregnant and get one and ill break up with you. im like yeah ok.

so for a guys point of view on this. i think abortion is only right if a woman is raped or the baby will have serious birth defects.

hypothetically speaking i think a guy should just have as much rights as the woman does when a woman is pregnant. say my girlfriend gets pregnant. she should have no right to abort that baby if i dont want her too. just like if i wanted her to abort it. she has the right not too.

i told her how i felt and she said she would put the baby up for adoption. im like the hell you are. give birth and sign over all your rights to me.

so as a guy what do you think if you got a girl pregnant and she wanted an abotion. how would you feel?

With me it would depend on how old the fetus is. When the fetus is old enough to become a viable baby then it is not just a womans decision. Before that IMO it is just a fetus and part of the woman and it should be her choice.

You have a seriously chauvinistic view on this.

The only problem i have with abortion is the 12 week cut off point. It needs to be lowerd, since there is evidence that the "child" is capable of cognitive thought at that stage.

Really?

A FETUS at that point in time that could never have a chance to survive out of the womb has cognitive thought??

It depends on the situation....as you have said, you do have a right in the choice, but not as much as the woman..after all, it is her body!!!
I dont agree with abortion in this nature, i find it quite a selfish concept! After all, if your gonna have sex , expect consequences!...but as i said, it all depends on the situation the "woman" is in...Your gf is lucky to have a man who is responsible! Many woman are'nt as lucky

You have a seriously chauvinistic view on this.

only reason i said i wanted to hear the guys point of views is becuase we hear the womans most of the time why she wants to have an abortion. what im saying what if you dont want to have the abortion cause you want the baby but the woman does not. how fair is that for the guy. if a woman wants the baby and the guy doesnt the guy can be a dead beat and just leave and the woman is there by her self to raise the child. thats the guys child in there as well. no proof i guess until the child is born but still. you got guys like me in this world that dont believe in abortion and would love and take care of that baby by myself if my girlfriend dint want the baby. no reason killing it before it gets a chance or putting it up for adoption if you can and will take care and raise the child.

how is it chauvinistic if thats how i feel. no sense killing an innocent child depending on the circumstances.

say you both dont want the baby. give the child a chance and putting her/him up for adoption to someone who can take care of the baby.

but if one partner wants the child and the other does not. like i said if the guy does NOT want the child he can just leave. horrible as that may be. it happens. if the woman does not want the child and the guy does. that guy should have the right to take care of that child. that is his baby too. and he should have that right.

all im saying we all see to often guys wanting there girl friends/wife to get an abortion. just looking for point of view from guys that wouldnt want that if the tables were turned.

It depends on how you define a human an animal with certain physical characteristics whose main distinguishing feature is the ability to use reason and to make the connections of logic.
Does an unborn baby have the ability to use reason and make the connections of logic? No. Therefore, it is not a human. Now, we grant rights to beings based on their ability to use reason. Can an unborn baby use reason at all, or is it a complete slave to undeveloped instincts? As far as we know, the second one. Therefore, it does not have many rights - and it does not have the right to stay alive if it's host does not want it.
So, I think abortion should be legal.
However, do I think it is right? An unborn baby, though not yet a human, has the potential to become one, and it should be allowed to fulfill that potential. Killing it off, when your life is no tin danger of if the baby will come out fine, is killing of a potential human. It's like burning the rough drafts of a novel or the first notes of a symphony, they aren't yet art works, but if nurtured, they will become art.

They guy doesn't have a parasite growing inside him for 9 months. That's why it's the womans decision.
If the woman loves you, she'll take what you say on board though, so i wouldn't worry about it.

seems a bit contradictory from year earlier statement. a parasite with cognitive thought?

I think it's wrong to end a life without the living creture having a say in things.....

ON the other hand I do believe in the death penalty if the conviction is without any reasonable doubt, those kinda people had a chance and took lives no one has that right...

but back on the abortion front, I think it should be banned. Adoption is the better way there are so many older couples looking to have a kid who can't and want to adopt but these abortions take that away from them....

give the kid a chance is what I say...

:clap thank you.

I would never presume to tell anyone what they should or should not do with their body. I will never be faced with that decision and I can't imagine what it would be like - so I don't judge anyone based on their decision either.

If I were the father in an unplanned pregnancy situation, there would be discussion about my potential involvement with the child, including any financial responsibilities - depending on the circumstances - in order to let the mother know what to expect. Other than that, it's not my place to say.

With that said, I'm somewhat thankful that I will never find myself in a situation where I have to make that decision. My heart goes out to any women who faces what is probably the most difficult decision ever.

Well... when it comes to abortion... I guess I'm not sure what I think. However, bear in mind that I am in my early twenties and I've never even dated, and I don't want children, so some of my thoughts/opinions might be idealistic or whatever.

On the one hand, I'd say that people have a right to do whatever they want with their own body. And well, there was a friend of mine who pointed out once... if, for example, abortion was made illegal, then people would just go and get abortions illegally. Like, some people might set up illegal, underground clinics, where the procedure may not be quite as safe. I'm not necessarily defending abortion here, I'm simply pointing out another angle.

However, I don't think abortion is healthy... if it's done too many times it can cause health problems. Honestly I don't think it should be done unless the fetus is extremely defective, or unless it's posing a serious threat to the mother. Otherwise... why not carry it to full term and then sign up for adoption if you don't want the baby?

It's up to the woman... Who am I to say yes or no? It's not my body and if she doesn't feel like she can take care of it then its her decision and the same vice versa...

I'm for abortion so long as its done in the earliest of stages.

...from what I have gathered from other women who have had abortions...it really effects them for a long time afterwards. I think its because of how society pressures them to feel guilty for something they felt they needed to do for whatever reason.

Abortion is something needed for certain circumstances like the mother it too young or has been raped or the baby is abnormal or the family is already too big and on more would financially break them.

...but for those woman who have abortion after abortion...they should be stopped and forced onto a long term birth control until they truly want a child.

As for men and abortion...I don't think they should have a say what so ever because its not them who carries the child for nine months...if anything their support only should be there in whatever the woman decides.

kind of a sidenote... but what if the mother was talking all the necessary steps NOT to get pregnant... like what if she was on birth control and took it exactly how she was supposed to and got pregnant... or if the condom broke and she got pregnant? does that give her more freedom to abort a child since she technically was taking precautions to prevent the situation in the first place?

A girl I know has had 2 abortions.. she can't take birth control due to high blood pressure and it pisses me off because it's like OBVIOUSLY you aren't responsible enough to use a condom, yet you don't want a child, so how in the hell do you expect to be accountable enough to raise a child? Most people take precautions, and if they don't, they learn from mistakes. She recently just popped out a kid with a father who wants NOTHING to do with it. I understand making mistakes, but usually people learn from them (no offense to her baby which is adorable) haha
