and something that both parties should remove from their plank and let the churches deal with it
Then how come it is against the law to spank a born child and leave a mark? Shouldn't that be "nobody's business"? What about parents murdering their born children? Shouldn't that be nobody's business?

It all falls under the same category IMO. If you think that morality is a church-only issue, fine, but at least be consistent.

Abortion is not murder in the same way the death penalty is not murder. Both are perfectly legal.

This issue is likely to get emotional. I am pro choice if anyone cares, and I guess my views are a little more 'extreme' than most choicers. Oh well.

It is a moral issue that is used as a political one.

One can use every argument they like but for me this is a personal issue that a woman is the one to decide on.

Endowed upon creation, not upon birth. Fetuses (feti?) have the unalienable right to life. If (s)he fails to survive long enough to draw breath, that life is still mourned.

What if the mother would die if she didn't have an abortion?

Ectopic pregnancy will kill the woman. That's a growing embryo that must be destroyed to save her life.

You still don't support abortion in these cases?

Legal, everything is a case by case scenario, and I don't believe we have the funds to investigate every case, nor have the right to act as a moral border.

Anyways, if abortion is even considered, what is the chance that that child will become a productive human being.? Sorry if I sound cold, but the root to most of our nation's problems comes down to dead beat Dads and unprepared mothers.

No politician will face that, hence me thinking we are fucked.

If a woman is raped and feels that, by giving birth, it will bring back painful memories, then she should be able to abort the child. It's her choice.

That's just one example really.

As for the poll, i'm not voting as i believe that it should be a matter of a woman's choice, fuck legal stuff.

In an ectopic pregnancy both baby and mother dies. Currently, there is no way to save the baby anyway. There's no gain in letting the pregnancy proceed with today's methods.

It's a crying shame that no one even discusses ways to save the baby.

I doubt today's researchers are even trying to find a method to transfer the fetus to the womb.

The question gets far more difficult if it's a choice between the mother's life and the baby's life.

I pray for the day that some doctor somewhere develops a procedure to take a baby from an unwilling woman's womb and transplant him/her into the womb of a mother willing to raise him/her.

Ah, but there is one problem with that. While it sounds good in theory, one would need to have the woman's permission to perform the necessary surgery to remove her fetus.:thumbup

it's a womens decision to do this for herself.. if she thinks she isn't ready then fine.. do what she needs to do
it's a lot easier than having the child and putting it up for adoption

I think abortion is okay in those cases. What I don't agree with is doing it to erase a mistake. If you are old enough to consent to sex, you should be old enough to understand the potential consequences and should therefore deal with them. It's selfish.

But I don't think it should be illegal. It's not anyone else's decision to make. Besides, making it illegal will just force women to find alternative, ie less safe, options...
