you know it's been a while since I timed myself. I've plotted out a good flat 3 mile route, I'm going to time myself tonight :D

Yeah, doing things fast is really good for you. Like with exercise bike riding, it's better to do bouts of fast riding with a little rest in between (say, 2 minutes of speed riding and 30 seconds slowed riding for rest), especially for anyone wanting to lose weight.
I also read somewhere that those who take stairs lose 3kg more than those who don't lol. I really hate stairs, but since becoming a little fitter lately, I always skip a step, it feels natural, there's just too many steps lol.

I read on this too b4 and applied it to running in spurts of fast and then rest for a few mins etc. The rationale behind this is for metabolism jerking/shock rather than a continuous rhythmic/regular pace. They actually have an mp3 on this where while doing the exercise. you're listening to some music and told when you need to either walk/bike/run fast and when to slow down.......It worked for me when after the ankle injury with no excercise i gained a bit of weight- i did a power short distance runs ;)

btw- stairs is the same way due to the incline ( going against gravity hence more energy needed to do the exercise ) and again shocks your metabolism when u do spurts of slow and fast

It took me ages to actually start running but with a career in the Armed forces and a dad who runs a lot of marathons I ended up with a pair of running shoes and just went one day, after that first day I ended up likeing it and did it more often

wow how overly optimistic was I?

19 minutes for 3 miles. Not too bad tho... 6 minute miles, must try harder...
