And this is why I prefer thread be closed than deleted by member who try goading others..

There comes a time when posters are not interested in debate but rather just winning at all cost to the other member. Hence getting them banned.

I can think of a few who were really good at it but have not posted in a while.

Even the creme de la creme would lose it with these members.. Best not to get to that point.. :D

Look at your Rep..

Sounds reasonable till a mod disagrees with you and you no longer can argue your point.
This I've seen to an extreme at another site.
There is no perfect setting, just environments that favor greater fairness.

I looked, but don't know them or their style.
In a debate forum, it's an arena fought with words and logic.
As soon as rules are enforced to the point that they inhibit logic, it's no longer an honest debate.
That's the catch with draconian rules.......interpretations of those rules.

I'd rather have a mod say....'cut the shit and get civil' than 'here's how I interpret the rules'.
Once you start down a path of rule making, the forum becomes a collection of connivers looking to oust somebody/censor them, rather than debating them......been there done that and don't want to be doing it again.

Yah I understand.. Been there and done that also..

I like the rules here as well but its not a free for all in the debate section.. There are some rules albeit very lax..

I also think Admin and the MODs do a fantastic job..

The problem with those who won't stop and 'cut the shit and get civil' is the problem because those people know how to coax others easily into making critical mistakes.

We have an ignore feature that many know how to get around.

In a perfect world adults would act on the internet as they do in real life but few do.

If someone asks you on a public internet forum if you have "ever fucked a corpse", would you be out of line by responding with "only your mother"?]
I think you would be out of line since two wrongs do not make a right. However I wouldn't blame you if you felt inclined to punch anyone who asked such an asinine question.

I agree but when ours get beyond silly, sometimes I think the thread should be closed before someone gets banned.. Just my opinion.. ;)

If it stays in P&D, it doesn't bother me. But when it leaks over to other parts of the forum, like it has here, I think the involved members should be bitchslapped.

But, I'm just a bitch. :24:

Why.. If you don't want to see any of the debate stuff, click on Diet New Post button.. :tooth

I was kinda hoping for an I-Spy Diet button myself but "You can't always get what you want ...... " :24:

I clicked on the "Diet New Post" button and this thread came up anyway.
