Well, if you read the posts before you, from those of us who are veggies, is that a lot of us do not eat meat due to just not liking it, not through the fact animals are killed for the leather etc.

So, those who do not eat meat for the reason of the animals, do not wear leather.

Being a veggie is not stereotypical.

I was only talking about these types of veggies. And yes, some still wear leather.

It wasn't mentioned that it was those types of veggies in particular - you just said 'veggies', so it reads as those in general...

Well, as you have been told this, it must be the case with some veggies who are veggie for the killing of animals then.

Veggies for the killing of animals? I think I just found a new bumper sticker :)

I have no idea what you meant by that post.

You were saying that you know veggies who are such, as they are against the killing of animals (words to that effect), but who wear leather. Therefore, you have been told this, so you must know then.

Also, I was saying that how you worded your first post^^^^ it came across as though you referred to ALL veggies, even those who don't eat meat just through not liking it...

if you choose not to eat meat because you dont want it in your body ,whats wrong with leather shoes?
if its for animal rights then some people can only do as much as they can,and plastic footwear isnt eco friendly.
most animal rights people here in the UK are vegan any way and dont wear leather.
many veggies here are also interested in eco politics and so choose to wear shoes which are recycled also

There are plenty of alternative materials other than leather of which shoes are made from.

Just something to throw out there....

If everyone on the planet started eating veggie only... the soil would not be able to sustain us for long. We would strip the land barren in a few years.

I'll see if I can find that research paper again... it was a good read...

and this doesn't even address our need for vitamin B which cannot be grown...

BUT.... I do support eating less meat... I think we really over do it with the meat. A good healthy balance is what I support.

meat is good, to much meat isn't, we aren't oblique carnivores, we are desgined omnivores, we need it to function correctly and at peak performance, red meats contain the most proteins (and I think vitamin debs was referring to is vitamin B12), and 10,000 years ago we wouldn't have eaten as much as we do now, cos it had to be caught (nothing better than eating rabbit shot yourself imo) hence, to much of it being bad for you today, we can't process large amounts of it at all, smaller amounts are a lot better, hell, we can't even digest vegetable matter to well, but that's the price of having a non specialised diet, lol

exactly and your point was answered.

My point was answered? Where?

I said "There are plenty of alternative materials other than leather of which shoes are made from.". Where's your answer to this?

if you know people who claim to be vegetarian due to animal rights issues, then i suggest you ask them your questions, that would seem to be the most sensible thing to do

Why on earth do you think I haven't already done that?

OK, so what do the veggie's who are against killing of animals say to you when you ask why they still wear leather PT?
