not quite, we were actually holding out quite well and ground down the german airforce, that much they had to call off an invasion, the americans only entered the war when they were attacked at pearl harbour, europe was used as a stepping stone to Japan that's all, the american government had no interest in war until they were attacked, so the UK was holding out on it's own basically
no it wasn't, the uk asked for metals and building equipment for war use, that was it, america had expressd no want to enter a state of war whatsoever till it was attacked

it had already held out dude, the actions of the RAF during the battle of britain wore them down that much they had to call off their invasion of the mainland, which, even if hitler hadn't directed his attention to russia, the defences here were sufficent enough to see that they wouldn't have made any headway whatsoever
So UK had it all under control then.. Why hadn't the war been won before USA got involved?
