I went on google and I found a similar looking wasp which had the name: Ectemnius Lituratus
But the more I stare at the two pictures the less sure I am that they look alike.
How big was the wasp?
i'd say just over a cm

It looks like it could be one of these two.. I can't make a very good assessment because the wings are closed and I can't see more body details..

This is a good site ~huge!~ for identification of bugs from the US and Canada, so the species you have in the UK could vary a little.

I'm thinkin' you should just fess up and pay her.i looked at wasp pictures and found about 6 species that look identical to this,even lordv didn't know which one it is,,ans with the none existance of a british wasp society i'm thinking that using a wasp was a mistake....hence the other thread i made![]()
