Except the UN isn't useless, at all. If we let them do their job in the first place, we might have not been in this mess.

My posts aren't talking about us or the US military. I haven't mentioned the military once. It is not the military that got us into this mess. They didn't ask to be sent over to Iraq 2 and 3 times, to have their tours extended to 15 months. I have no beef with what they are doing, because they are doing what they are told. I don't know why you insist that I am bashing the military when I disagree with what our government has gotten us into. I have several family members in Iraq, and they (the military personnel) are not the problem... they are doing their job, and a hell of a job at that for what they have to work with.... Hell, the government can't even get them the proper equipment they need. and it's been how fucking long since the war started??? Don't you think I care that my nephew is riding around in a lousy Humvee that isn't uparmoured?

Why Iraq? Iraq constantly broke UN sanctions. UN as usual wasn't doing jack. They make rules and don't enforce them. They are like the teacher in high school that never sent anyone to the office, you could basically smoke crack in her classroom and she'd just sit there.

We needed a strong hold in the middle of the region to fight terrorists. At the time liberals, conservatives, and other countries went on record as believing Iraqi had WMD. Saddam was a madman, so Iraq was a good place to go in. Hey, oil, added bonus for business. Add it all up. If people view that as an excuse to get a stronghold in the middle of the region, so be it. A stronghold in the middle east has been established, which was exactly what needed to happen after 9/11.

Middle eastern holy wars have been fought over there for thousands of years. I don't want them bringing that crap over here, which is what they are trying to do. In America we have A LOT of different religions living together, and besides the occasion rift here and there, we cohabitate peacefully, unlike them. They need to learn to do the same.

Terrorists are the bully's on the playground, not America. Terrorists have nothing to offer the people that follow them. They cause their own oppression with their irrational and whacked out behavior. Their way of thinking will never lead them to anything but a life in a 3rd world country ran by whack dictators.
