I had a Firebird Trans AM with the 6.6 litre engine. That sucker purred. I buried the needle and it did not even strain. I had to be going over 120 MPH. but no way to prove it.
same night I hit what I swear was a black panther. I know that sounds insane but this was pitch black. had a long tail and was longer than a dog. no idea what else it could be
OMG!!!!! So you're the SOB that killed big black Barney! Barney never ate anyone he didn't like. Wouldn't hurt anyone who didn't deserve it. His body was found in a ditch about six miles from his home. Wait until I tell Big Bruno, his owner. He'll be wanting to talk to you......... :eek

Did the Firebird sustain much damage after you hit the panther?
BTW.... I don't doubt it... we've had Bobcats spotted in our area... people were warned to keep their small pets and children under close supervision.

I clipped it just a bit so it did nothing to the car. No great surprise that everybody told me I was full of shit. It was at least as big as a doberman pincher and jet black. only with shorter legs as I recall. it happened so damn fast I could not do anything. around midnite when it happened

I remember taking an Olds Cutlass (I think it was a '71... not sure what was under the hood) on the freeway years ago and wanting to see what it felt like to just hold the pedal to the floor. It was NOT during rush hour and the freeway was pretty light with other vehicles. I was NOT alone. So.... I did it!
I held the wheel tight.... stood on the gas pedal.... and held on.
That car shook like crazy and was just screaming.
It held the road straight though.... Never did bury the speedometer... I thought the car was going to come apart and let off. After that, it always made an engine noise. Piece of crap.
