Kinda glad I didn't see the Canucks game yesterday. All I remember is Saturday's game against Calgary. Great game!

other than last years playoffs....nothing good as of late...I still remember the good old days....Neely, Bourque.....when the finally beat them in 1987...that was something else....I remember Bourque was like WOW....then came along those damn, pesky, Oilers who crushed my heart in 1987 and 1991..we came so close and couldn't get the Cup. The Bruins were supposed to kill Edmonton in 1990; Ranford played on top of his head.....still can see Glen Wesley roofing that shot...(wide open net...damn you Esa Tikkanen!!

and that guy, Gretzky.....he SUCKS!
and as for Mario, you play outside the lines and wait for the puck to come to you....so wrong!

ah but Sir Orr was the greatest to watch. Never saw a guy who could do a single man end to end breaakway like that guy. :thumbup

I was our east on a business trip that spent a day in Boston about 15 years ago and ran into him at a little italian resturant. ended up getting up the balls to ask for his autograph. when the Wings sucked back then I was a big fan of the Bruins back in his heydey. One of the epics was a donneybrook in a game against Toronto

sorry I gotta disagree. he had amazing talent. he did not score all those goals by accident. he was fun to watch when he would go down a wing full tilt deep into the defensive zone and then do a stop and spin and come out of it in front of the net with a clear path. Mario might have been better if he had been healthy more. Just my opinions.

not saying that they both weren't great players...it just seemed they both had it rather easy...they never got in front of the net for their goals...yes Mario was bigger and stronger but he was no Cam Neely!

well to be honest with the way the league is set up i probably did not see Boston much the last 20 years. we should be in the same friggin division but instead the idiots running the league played around. so anyway I never saw much of Neely. I knew he was great and got hurt and retired young but kind of hard for me to think he would be better than Mario

I know what you mean about Mario and Gretzky not going to the net. the game got ruined with all the damn clutching and grabbing and cheap shots. should have done away with helmets and allowed fighting. It would have made it a more honest game. IMO

yeah and if McSorley didn't have to protect Gretzky....it just seemed that Gretzky was either the trailer on the ice or played so far back he would almost be called for offside!

not true

I can remember tons of times Gretzky would take the puck deep into the end on the left wing.

then he would do the stop and spin. and either shoot or pass..

Yzerman did the same thing a lot.

And back in the day all teams had those that protected the stars.

I really hate the cheap crap from behind. somebody is gonna get crippled with the hatchet job to the back of the knees

true Gretzky did go into corners...my bad...
but I don't recall really any goons on the Oilers (or was there?)

well to some McSorly was considered one

I don't agree with that. Same as I did not think some on the Philly team when Clark played were goons.

if you made it to that level you were a talent before no matter how they used you in the NHL

true. it takes a special breed to get your ass kicked on a nightly basis and come back for more.
i think that each team did have their versions of the enforcer and they did have to be somewhat good at something other than fighting.

Oilers. He kicked the shit outta anyone that even breathed on Gretzky. Seemed like a nice guy off the ice, though LOL
