Your avatar reminds me of Souray. :/

Mats Sundin in Vancouver, about time but I think he didn't want to be there, lol!!!

As far as my team, we need a new coach other than MacT

Me Like HOCKEY!!!

I know the rules and the basics, but not the "game" as it were. Like:

Are there still guys in todays game like Gretzky who need "protecting?"

What keeps players from hammering these guys. I mean, it would make sense to check these guys as much or more than the other players. I know there are players who are top goal scorers and aren't afraid to get pummeled in front of the crease to score goals. But is it a non-spoken rule that you don't check the finesse players? Would every incident like that lead to a Bertuzzi type retaliation?

Again, I'm not a student of the game per-se, but love to watch

Speaking of all stars getting hurt, there has been an incident on December 18th with Sidney Crosby cheapshotting a man from the Thrashers...

YouTube - Sidney Crosby Cheap Shot

I lost respect for Sid the Kid because of this, who the fuck hits someone between their legs.

A part of the problem with the hits is the because of the instigator rule, I hate it since it allows players to do a bunch of cheap shots.

What's the consensus with the players about stuff like what Crosby did. I figure the players have the final say in what's acceptable. Is this a "new" lack of respect for the game from some players, or has this been around for awhile?

Players would find this very disrespectful, also just very wrong. Also the fact that Sidney Crosby is an All Star is making him get away with something like this, this should've been a suspension in my judgement, yeah it was a scruffle in the back in front of the goalie, yes there's going to be shots which are dirty but it doesn't mean that it's right and that they should get away with it. If there was a huge injury then maybe they'll look at it but it pisses me off that the stuff needs to done isn't. Dirty hits happen a lot in the NHL, it's part of the game but it's the type of hits that guys like Avery, Ott, and many agitators use gets my skin boiling. :mad
