And to answer the question, I have no problem with his race, but I'm pretty confident a significant number of people will never vote for him because of his skin color. Even in this forum, I'd guess that whatever % of readers won't vote for a black man, probably won't admit it.

And a significant number will vote for him because of his skin color.

Depending upon your view it really doesn't make any difference because these same people have historically voted Democrat so Obama picks up nothing, vote wise, as the result of the color of his skin.

It does make a difference if you've got people not voting for him specifically because he's black and going for McCain just because he's white. It might be more civil today (or should I say hidden?), but this aspect of the U.S. is still there.

You need to ask a liberal a question because they consider it a HUGE accomplishment. If you've ever watched the way a liberal fawns all over a black person, its hilarious--practically trip over themselves trying to compliment him/her.

Your statement says more about you than any liberal. The implied statement was that Obama can be proud of being black because of where he is today in the political arena.

Well, would you call me a liberal?

I've been called racist more times than I care to remember...

And its no different if people aren't voting for McCain because he's white and for Obama because he's black. Racist attitudes work both sides of the street.

It's just coincidence that Obama will attract record amount of black voters :surrender;)

Yes, that's was my earlier point. Obama attracting the black vote really doesn't do him any good because as a Democrat he would have attracted the black vote anyway. Now if he was a black Republican......well now there is a different story. ;)

What the fuck is wrong with people that they still think he is Muslim. I can't stand the guy because he is an empty suit full of rhetoric but get the fucking facts right.

Pick another reason to dislike Obama, it's not because he's Muslim. And your kidding yourself if you don't think his skin color makes a difference.

But Obama is a skinny suit of rhetoric as compared to McCain's hefty suit. So by pure physics we can deduce that Obama spouts less rhetoric... ;)

Why don't we get real here and just admit that the hardcore Republican's will never say anything good about Obama and the hardcore Democrats will never say anything good about McCain. It's all about the PARTY. But as an Independent, not tied to Party loyalties, I can evaluate and make a pick based on what America needs at this point in time and it's not McCain. Sorry guys and gals. ;) ;)

I am a Libetarian so I can find little to agree with that Obama has to say. He IS a socialist when you sort thru his rhetoric. And shiny or not an empty suit is still.......... an empty suit. Lots of pretty words, very eloquent... But clueless when it comes to how to implement the pie in the sky ideas. This guy is so unprepared and inexperience it would be laughable if it were not so serious.

If Lieberman were running, some people would vote for him because he was Jewish--guess they are racist!

Your generalizations don't hold any water. If anyone votes for someone or against someone based on their race and only their race, then it's not a standard we should be shooting for, but there you go somehow trying to defend it.

Well that beats being told............... if you say so :24:

so tell me how all these great ideas he is promoting are going to either be implemented or paid for.

and please do not use the spin some use that he would end the war and we could use that money. that is borrowed money so it does not count. we already are going broke because of a bloated govt so how can anybody seriously think the way to a better country is to spend more. shit, i would like a 30' boat and a cottage on the lake. i could probably pull that off for a few months and then go bankrupt. this is what our govt is doing, and both parties are complicit. the only guy that would have made a serious attempt to right the ship was Ron Paul. The guy who was for following the constitution and got labled a kook

You loosing your cool? I've never implied or insinuated it's only bad if it happens to Obama. I just had to finally spell it out for some of the thicker skulls around here.

Oh, I don't know. Speaking of "paid for", why don't you tell me why you supported Bush and Company for 7 years of thoroughly reckless deficit spending? You know the Republicans, who are supposed to fiscally conservative and responsible? Another, "his heart is in the right place no matter how much he trashes the country" supporter?
