On a point of interest, it's cool that you want (or have already gotten now) a gun to take around with you wherever for personal protection and whatever else (that's your right) but why didn't you just come out and say so before that's why you wanted it instead of giving people the impression you wanted it for firing range practice....not necessarily for what you're saying now?

Because it's for both. What the fuck do you care what I wanted it for anyway?

I bought it mainly to take to the firing range, but since I'm getting my permit to carry I'm going to use it as protection even though I hope to never have to. Does that satisfy your insatiable appetite to play devils advocate for no apparent reason CB?

Close, we have rednecks instead of cowboys.

I thought this was what you have in Florida.

Just an observation James. And as I've said it is your right. Actually I think it's cool and wouldn't mind myself having one if it wasn't so bloody tedious to get one where I'm at. So cheers.

So I got to the range today with my buddy.

This gun... is amazing. VERY peppy, good strong recoil. I'm extremely happy with this purchase.

I put all 50 of my original rounds through two targets, but for some reason only took a picture of one of them.

Not bad for a first timer, eh?

While I was there I picked up some Winchester hollowpoints.

Also picked up a rubber grip.

and a holster for me to get used to.

When we got back from the range, we ate (which was the first time I ate all day) and cleaned our guns. He hadn't cleaned his in a while so his barrell took longer to scrub out.

Look at all that powder and crap in there from just 3 clips in 25 minutes.

After I finished my range rounds, I put in 3 hollow points just to get the feel of them. My buddy popped off the first one, then he jammed my gun on the second one, got it out, and popped off the last one.

He jammed my gun already! lol

So I picked up the third round, put it in my other clip, loaded, cocked and fired it. Hollow points got more kick to them. Just wow.

Then I fired a few out of his gun, holy cow the M&P 40 is quite a bit more powerful than the SW40VE.

I wasn't trying to group at all really. I put the first few in the center and then just starting aiming all around. At least I know I could take some guys ear off if I had to.

The second paper has me firing them off quickly. There's some crazy patterns in that one. But the very first shot was almost dead center.

Trust me James.. Shooting accurately at a paper target doesn't translate into shooting accurately at a person when the shit hits the fan. If you have law enforcement friends, or even military friends who could get you into a kill house, try it. It's another world.

Check out this site (AMMOMAN.COM d/b/a Discount Distributors) for ammo. My buddies and I buy bulk from this place sometimes.

Well, I know I can hit a person from 40 yards out. I tagged the center of that second paper from 40 yards on the first shot of the last clip. I still honestly never want to have to come across this situation, and I doubt I ever will.

I don't quite need that much ammo. 50 rounds will last me forever and two days.

hey james, i wouldnt recommend using that cci blazer crap. its some of the dirtiest ammo you can buy. i had to sand blast one of my glocks after a day at the range to get all the powder off. my recommendation is to pay a little more for Hornady. just a thought.

You know whats kind of ironic now that I've fired the gun?

The dirtiest ammo cci blazer crap all went through the gun just fine. When I put the Winchester hollow point in, it jammed up on my buddy after just one round. LOL

Hell, he jammed his gun too right before that... so maybe it's just him? :shrugs

There are some semi autos that jamb if you limp wrist it. Meaning, if you don't keep a tight grip on the gun when you fire it and it flops around in your hand... You will tend to "stove pipe" it (brass only ejects part way) since the slide won't cycle properly. Not all guns are prone to this, but maybe that's what was happening...

Anyway. Have you put that grip on yet? Feels great with it on doesn't it? :)

I'm very thankful that I live in a country where I don't need to carry a gun for protection.

We don't live in a country where we "Need" to carry a gun for protection.........

I don't need to carry a gun for protection, I just like being able to take it out and throw a few pounds of lead down range.

I don't think the majority of people who carry it really "need" to carry one. But I guess it's like car insurance, you may go your whole life never needing it, but that one time you do, you'll be glad you had it.

Cool deal James, and don't ever be afraid to get a permit and exercise your rights to the fullest to bear arms.

I went into city hall today to get it started, and apparently I have to make an appointment. So, I'm going to have to call soon to set one up. I will be carrying it with me while I'm out and about, especially with Greg. But for work it'll pretty much sit at home.
