I'm not gonna say much in my opening post on this one. I want to see what other people have to say and then I'll come back and debate with you.

For the record, I am undecided ( which I know sounds like a bullshit cop out ) and am leaning towards no.

Before you start a debate, know this...

There is no scientific evidence for any diety. So scientifically speaking, you cannot believe.
Some people claim to be blessed with faith evidence that there is a God. Those people believe.

Science or faith. Choose your weapon. No one wins. No one convinces the other side. I hate to tell you, but that's a synopsis of an entire debate on the topic.

I can prove a lot more with science than I can with faith.

Faith is something you have to want regardless of proof.

To the person that asked me why I don't believe, lets just say I lack required proof.


And to the other person, no debate ends with a couple words. Just because YOU think you have summed everything up it two sentences doesn't mean anything other then the fact that you apparently have nothing else to say on the matter.


Science is a too commonly thrown around word. Just because science hasn't proven that there is no greater power doesn't mean that their isn't one. It just means they don't know if there is one. So that does not end the argument, its just a fancy way of saying we have no idea.

I dont see any conclusive evidence either way so it's up to you what you believe. Personally though I tend toward believing in a God. I look around me at the wonders of nature and find it hard to believe that something so wonderful got here by chance. However it's a very vague belief and I certainly don't believe that this is the God of the Bible. It's a deep subject but to give just one example, I don't really see why God would create homosexual animals and humans and then condemn them in his book.

I guarantee that if I throw someone out of a window, they will hit the ground eventually.

If I ask God for a winning lottery ticket, neither of us have a clue what will happen.

And if I were to win, I can say it was God....But was it.

When the aforementioned person hits the ground via the window...I call it gravity....Every damn time.

Oh and my answer is.....Drum roll please, despite the auspices of my scientific mind and all that accompanies it, sure I believe there is a God of sorts, but only because I like the idea that I am not in control of everything.

Not because the Mormon Tabernackle tells me so.

If you ask me, people that believe in God are just looking for something to grab onto. Like " oh come on God help me ' make the winning shot in this game' " or whatever the hell else they wanna do, and then they TRY HARDER thinking that God is helping them and they pull themselves threw it. Call if God if you want but it is probably just the person reaching down in themselves and pulling that greater power out.

I actually enjoy wordy people. Gives me more things to pick on them for. Anyway, I never said I planned on sharing with everyone the right answer, or held my opinion higher then anyone else. I was just trying to have some conversation and you felt the need to come in here and try to murder my thread with the first post in it. If you have nothing to say on the matter then kindly move along.
