hi gLing :] my mum (debbie t) told me all about this and it really made my day
i was deaf until i was six years old, and i had it all sorted out with an operation and i think that your getting cochlea implants is brilliant. i remember after having my operation, going to the toilet and actually hearing it flush for the first time, and i sat in a corner, holding my ears, screaming. it was terrifying but at the same time i couldnt have been happier. the first week or two for me was horrible, everything was strange and it was completely bewildering but after i became used to it all, it really was worth it, even just for music it was all worth it :]]

Yes I'll keep everybody up to date. But I will still have to wait at least 4 weeks after getting the implant before they activate it.
I image you were scared. I'm scared like crazy thinking about it. It will be a completely alien experience. You were lucky to have your hearing restored at such a young age. The doctors told me many people my age who get this done have a very difficult time adjusting. However this morning I talked to an internet friend of mine who said she had a similar procedure done about a year ago. She got a different kind of implant but the results were the same and now she happy and hearing.

i talked with eve this morning about this and she told me things i hadnt realised/,i found her with her hands on her ears frightened and we had to put cotton wool in there for a while just to walk to school but she did adjust.
she cannot cope with talking on the phone still as she has to see the face to fully understand ..learned behaviour i suppose ,but she loves music,now i dont know if she ears things as i do ,its all in perception so to speak ,but she enjoys sounds and sometimes she ears things in a different way than me im sure.
her best mate ,martin is deaf ,and they still both lip read each other ,and it seems thats why they became such good mates.its quite delightful watching them together they seem to communicate in a different way...good luck G .we all wish you all the best in my family...xxxx

I am not surprised you feel you may not get any sleep tonight and that's the most natural thing under the circumstances.
