Thank you, do you know how old his son was?The son of a guy I worked with had one of those. It worked amazingly for him. He said that when they activated it, his son's face was joyous and all he could do was go around and listen to everything imaginable. I hope you have success, Gina.
Thank you, do you know how old his son was?
That is good it works for him. The younger you are the better chance you have at it being successful. He was actually born deaf, but wasn't diagnosed as being deaf right away. Eventually they realized he wasn't responding to startling sounds so they figured it out fairly soon. He got them when he was about 3 I think. They had him in the school for the deaf, even as a young boy, and before regular kindergarten age. Last I heard he had to get it re-done, since he's growing.
Oh thank you. The four weeks is to give time to heal.gLing, I am new here but I want to wish you a smooth surgery, fast recovery and great results.
The curious side of me wants to know why they have to wait 4 weeks to activate it though...would the vibrations upset the healing tissue?
If it's too personal just tell me to MYOB.
I'm just too open with subjects I guess. I don't mean to offend.
That is wonderful about your son.I know that it's not close to what you'll be experiencing but I remember when my son was 4 yrs old and got the tubes put in. He had a pretty large hearing loss due to the fluid build up in them from allergies. I didn't realize he had been reading lips until the doctor told me that's how he was understanding us. When his ears were done healing and he put on a shirt with snaps he giggled. I never realized he hadn't heard it before. Same with the church bells that rabng on Sunday...he pointed out to the sky. It broke my heart knowing that I hadn't known what he had been going through in order to survive...and yet watching him experience those new sounds made me so overfilled with happiness that even now (23 years later) it makes me a bit teary eyed.
I truly hope that you get to discover all of those firsts also. I'll be praying for you.
That is on the list. Please tell me the first thing you plan on doing is watching every star trek episode again.
lol don't feel like an asshole.
No I was born deaf.
my son was the same way .. he developed a speech impediment because of it .. the soft sounding letters he could not say properly .. because he couldn't hear them properly.I know that it's not close to what you'll be experiencing but I remember when my son was 4 yrs old and got the tubes put in. He had a pretty large hearing loss due to the fluid build up in them from allergies.
