Discussion About OTz Team Debates

Oh right ok, so we can then say yes or no as to whether or not we want to join that particular topic then for the team debate? That'd be good if so.

Well, the way I was thinking of it was along the same lines as college or other team debates whereas the given is that you a part of X team. You do not know which subject is to be discussed before it is actually given so you have no pre-conceived notions.

The subject is given. The task is to present points of view according to what your team has been assigned. This now encourages you to put on your thinking cap and think "out of the box" whereas you may have had pre-conceived notions about whatever, you now look at it from a different perspective.<-----And this is the understanding so no one holds it against you. You are simply participating in a debate as part of a team presenting views one way or the other. If per chance you are already pre-disposed about a particular subject and happened to have gotten to debate accordingly...jolly good. Otherwise, still no probs...think out of the box. Win-win situation.

Teams may be picked randomly and may be changed following debates. Moderator picks teams from pool. This avoids members trying to pick their own teams, favoritism and such complications.

i will not debate with boys that talk homoerotically:24:

the thing is ,AEF is problem because you just know hell win hands down ,i believe CB called him the star of the show so we need to gag him every so often so we can all catch up and understand what hes just said:24:

im with keano:D

Now, if you had one thread with "For" proponents that won't make a debate would it?....at least not in the sense of a fluent debate in same room with debaters feeding off one another's points of view as unfolds.
That's what the discussion thread is for afterwards. Everybody has seen the info provided by the other side and can make a counterpoint.

I think that whoever is going to decide on the teams and topics for our debates should work out the way they want to do it, then come back and tell us how it will be done, then those who want to/still want to, can put their names forward, cos we are now debating over how we will have team debates...:D

I think it would make for more interesting debate in a given thread to see the intermixing of views as fluently as currently obtains rather than a string of one set of thinking. This would get to be boring IMO.
fair point CB...(i would like any team which suddenly goes off on one about God,bush or the super bowl disqualified..unless thats the subject of course;))
