All the time!!!
Two years ago I was working a project driving a mini-bus with 12 kids on, 2 kids dropped off the project because I wouldn't let them ride without their belts on. 9I did nag thnem somewhat and they said it was worse than home!!!)
Also My dad was involved in a head on smash with a combined speed of about 90mph. The Belt cracked his sternum, but without it he wouldn't have come home!!!!

I do all the time.

Reasons:

1. When I got hit by the S10, had I not been wearing it I would have gone through the windshield.
1a. When I hit the guy in the ford with my windstar, I would have gone through the windshield.

2. It's not worth the hassle of being pulled over.
2a. My life *puts hands out like scales* 25 dollar ticket.

3. Because it's the smart thing to do.

2. It's not worth the hassle of being pulled over.
Here in Florida, I forget the exact term, but I think they call it a "Secondary Law". Meaning if they stop you for something else, they can write you a ticket for the seatbelt also. But not wearing a seat belt can't be the primary reason for pulling someone over.

Since it's a retarded law, they're trying to change it.

I absolutely can't understand why somebody wouldn't wear one.

Try having boobs .. and letting me know again.

I don't usually .. because I don't want to. I've had one on and had a wreck and I've not had one on and had a wreck .. I was hurt worse in the one where I did have one on than the one where I wasn't wearing one.

Both accidents were at speeds over 35mph, but under 50.

I almost had my neck broken by a seatbelt. I'll just take my chances.

I do wear one when it rains .. just because people tend to act 99.9% more stupid for some reason when it rains.

I make my child wear his all the time though, plus he sits in the back seat.

I cant imagine the pain to your boobs but I'm sure I'd rather that than risking death.;)

They can pull you over here for not wearing one.

and good luck not wearing one, Jennie... more often than not they help. Sure minor 'injuries' take place because of the whiplash, but I'll take a sore neck over not breathing.

It's not the pain .. it' snot painful .. it's distracting and annoying.

It won't stay to the side, instead it ends up between .. rumpling up my clothes (not very professional looking to have wrinkled up clothing while waiting on high profile clients) .. and it's uncomfortable to have something wedged between my boobs.

I'm constantly reaching down, looking down, and fiddling with it trying to get it to stay put.

That is why I say try having boobs. IMO, for myself not speaking for every woman, it is more dangerous for me to wear it than not .. because I spend more time paying attention to the seatbelt and not enough paying attention to what's going on around me.

You do realize I'm 31 years old .. and I have never been pulled over for not wearing my seatbelt .. nor have I gotten one after being pulled over.

If I get one .. so be it. I'll pay the $25 and move on .. just like I will the $10 tickets I've gotten for double parking, or staying past meter time.

I didn't have whiplash .. it nearly literally broke my neck .. the paramedic that pulled me out of the car said had I been going faster, it would have. I was in the pasenger seat. I demolished a dash and STILL hit the windshield resulting in my entire forehead being scrubbed off as well as leaving a hump in the windshield itself. I still have glass embedded in my forehead from it. I was 13 at the time.

SRC has had an experience that has change her personal view on the issue and I can understand that. That aside, the numbers show that it is safer to wear one than to not. btw the strap nestles well right between the two um er well you know. LOL!

Can't you get those soft seat belt covers over there that arn't so annoying? They only cost a couple of quid on the market here.

actually my oldest sister doesnt wear one because of an accident she got into...the seatbelt tore her ear almost clean off...only part attached still was left hanging by the cartilidge at the top of the ear. Lucky they could fix it...but since then she hasnt worn one. Shed rather take her chances with her airbags

I have one .. it doesn't work. the only thing I've found that does work is using a clip to keep it loose .. which affectively makes the seatbelt ineffective and more dangerous .. so I just don't use it.

Airbags aren't active restraints, they're passive. They're meant to be a cushion to the blow with the help of the seatbelt.

You go full force into an airbag you're going to get whiplash and it's not going to help at all.

So sorry to hear that but that was a freak accident.:( Not wearing your seatbelt still runs a much greater risk of death than if you are.
Not trying to be insensitive but what might have happened to her if she wasn't wearing her belt and gone through the windscreen?

oh trust me I know...I agree with you both. But no one can convince her otherwise
