Where Did God Come From?

Then you must also accept that Zues might have created the universe. or Allah as well.

"God" has many names, hence the multitude of religions.
The point is that if you assume a "higher power" is real, by whatever name you call it, then trying to figure out the origin of that power is futile.

If God is an infinite being, then surely he incorporates all aspects of all religions! So he would be Zues (?), Allah, Jehova etc. all at the same time.

I'm not sure "infinite being" is the correct term, omnipotent maybe? But still, Juggler's got a great point...it doesn't matter what you call God, simply acknowledging that there is a greater power than us is a huge step, even for AEF, lol!!!

This would, of course, mean that everyone is right and that no-one is wrong! I can't really see the various religious communities going for that, can you?

They'll argue about individual interpretations, but most everyone agrees that one great power rules supreme...some religions have individual cannons that state that there are several smaller dieties that control individual daily happenings, but that they all still report to the supreme entity.

That's usually when they start arguing about which is the correct interpretation! Religion has been the excuse for more wars than anything else! Utter madness.
The problem with a god, is that if he is infinite, and we can only identify a finite proportion of him then anything we say about him will be flawed and incomplete!

My friend, you are far more wise than 99.9999% of the world's politicians.

Getting back to the original Question though. I prefer to believe that God is, well, the universe itself! It may be a bit extreme, but I have problems with the concept of an old bloke with big white hair and a beard sitting watching everyone saying " You're good" and "You're bad" .

I think that you're only partially correct...I think this goes back to the idea that God is so large a presence, that even the universe is dwarfed by his presence...and I use "his" in generic terms...I don't think he has a sex as defined by human science...although, most people who've read the bible will notice seceral references to the fact that he's called "Father" "Abba", etc., but I think that dates back to times when males were put in positions of leaderhip simply due to the fact that they had penises...not trying to sound feminist or anything, but that's what it breaks down to.

Gotta run...pick this up tomorrow?
