There should be tons of places looking for drivers...Yes?

yeah but I'm very picky about who i will drive for. I hate large corperations... places with junky equipment... or holy rollers... they are the worst to work for. Because if they are in this business.. 9 times out of 10 they aren't very holy... experianced that a few times first hand. :thumbdown

Have you ever given consideration to buying your own rig and leasing out your services?

(I am sure you have)

Plenty of times. One could be bought on the cheap right now too... but there is a reason for that.. the days of teh independent driver is coming to an end with a quickness... I halfway think that is the gooberments plan with the outrageous diesel prices.

You have the potential to make upwards of over $100,000 a year... if done right... but the cost of the equipment, insurance, fuel... you come home with less than you would say working in a factory or in a office... Fuel bill alone is well over $10,000 a month.... truck payment is about $2,500.. and god forbid if you gotta get work done!!!! Plus tires... 500 to 900 a pop.... and theres 18 of em... they wear out quick...

I would love to do it and have come as close as having the paperwork on a desk and the keys to a slightly used extended hood big sleeper peterbilt in my hand... that was a cheap $125,000 unit.... :D

Just wondering.

A guy I grew up with owns 5 Dodge 3500's and a 40ft and 60ft float for each, they stay running 24-7 in the hot shot business, and now he wants me to front him some dough for a couple Big-uns

For a cut of the profit of course, it's big business here with the oilfield being as active as it always is.

We can basically keep two 18 wheelers booked solid.
