Since we have so many new members I feel I should introduce myself. I am a 54 year old father of 2. Married for over 30 years. I live in Alabama. I am a huge Auburn University fan. I like to fish, bowl, play tennis, and hunt. I am self-employed and work from home. Travelling is one of my pleasures and I love good food. I am one of the moderators here. If I miss welcoming you I apologize as some days I am busier than others.

The reason I use AUFred is because my first experience with message boards was on sports message boards. There it is the norm to use a name which identifies you as to what school or team you are a fan of for the benefit of others. When I expanded my experience with message boards I continued to use the name I was identified by elsewhere. This has resulted in cross connections between boards because the name sticks out on non-sports boards.

I live in Alabama. There is a huge rivalry between the two biggest in-state schools. The University of Alabama and Auburn University. People who move here are surprised they are asked to decide which school they would prefer to be a fan of soon after moving here.

Despite the rivalry, why are they asked? Why would it bother one to like either one or the other? Makes no sense to me ?
