I've never seen a forum have so many people ban themselves from a forum.

Don't people have any self control?

On the flip side, then you have people who tell the forum "good riddance" and let everyone know they're leaving, then only to come back 6 months later and act like they didn't say anything (and interestingly enough, have their "good riddance" post removed so no one can see it:24

I kind of miss some of the other members here that don't seem to post as often as well.

What you speak of is true on every forum. I learned a long time ago dramatic exits are not my style. If I leave I just quit posting. People who asked to be banned are usually trying to avoid a temptation of some sort. Bannings for cause happen on every message board. We try our best to keep out spammers.

I'm not sure if you're speaking in general or this forum...but we never remove those "good riddance" posts that I can remember.

I think when people ask us to ban their account, they do so so that if they can't resist temptation and actually DO sign back in, they won't be able to post. Just my 2 cents.

Interesting enough I left quite a few forums and one of them will not stop sending me a "Come Back to Us" email every 3 months..

I can understand why some people would want to get banned as many forums send out periodical emails on "events", "contests" and "birthdays" which would tend to try to lure / remind you to come back.. The problem is the Forum general email system has no idea if you are banned or not and is just doing a global email send out.. You may think you are no longer banned when that is not true..

I am not sure how OTz deals with banned peoples emails / accounts, but I know I delete them completely, email and all. That way, spammers and problem makers are not reminded of the site with no warning letter of the events..

I don't really care in the long run. If I do not have enough will to not post someone that's my issue. It took me years to stop frequenting a hip hop site full of trolls.

Seriously, though, when I decide to take a little break from this place I usually delete my bookmark and make sure I'm signed out on ALL of my devices. Otherwise I end up clicking my bookmark just out of habit, LOL
