Watch the edges of the blistering for redness or discoloration. If it remains clear under the blister that is a good thing. If it gets to uncomfortable he might need to drain the blisters but try not to peel the skin back.

Without actually seeing his foot. If it is that swollen it has fever in it and probably infection. Nothing over the counter is going to help that. He really needs to get it looked at by a professional. Burns are nothing to toy with.

I agree he needs to see a doctor..

I would imagine he has 2rd degree burns

or may be even worse 3rd degree burns

The EXACT words I told my wife was "I think I may need to go to the hospital". My wife responded in kind that there was no thinking about it. Perhaps I was stupid, but I was smart enough to listen to my wife.

I was lucky, only about 23% of the body. Kicker was, right after it happen, I thought "oh shit", but then a couple of minutes later, I thought I was ok.

They had me high as a kite, but I still remember them pealing the skin in the tub not having a fun time.

Shock perhaps.. People don't quite think straight when shock hits them for obvious reasons..

That said, you should never hesitate to go to the hospital..

I actually thought I was thinking rationally. After calling my wife, I called a buddy who I knew spent some time in a burn unit to talk to him to get his opinion. The fact is, other than some boils appearing on the skin and most of the body hair burned off, everything didn't look that bad. I actually had to drive a stick shift 15 minutes to meet the wife (which she demanded) so she could drive me to the hospital. From the time of the accident to meeting my wife was about 35 minutes. That said, by the time I got to the hospital I was very glad I did go because at that point, the skin wasn't looking so good. I do believe that if I didn't start driving as quick as I did, a little time later I wouldn't of been able to drive.

Given the fact that the OP's husband was given time off from work by his supervisors (without him asking for it), the size and swelling of the foot, and the pain, it's now getting past common sense to have a professional look at it.

Well me and hubby are quite a pair. So Saturday nite, drank too much and hit my head on the fireplace mantle. Bled like a stuck pig. So I stumble to the bathroom bleeding a lot and Joe hobbles to the bathroom to help staunch the bleeding and finally tape up my head. Sunday I looked at the mantle and looks like we butched something there. I looked like I went a few rounds with a heavyweight boxer. Joe kept saying are you going out for more beer. Funnily enuf I didn't feel like drinking yesterday? :tooth So I finally get dressed, comb my hair over my left eye and get him some damn beer-his foot is worse and he FINALLY agreed to go to the doctor today. I woke up today and my eye is worse, real red. So I slathered on the makeup, have my hair somewhat over my face, am wearing my playboy tight jeans and tight pink sweater (focus the attention elsewhere) ;) and I also took a picture of Joe's foot on my phone and have been showing it to select people so so far noone has notice my eye! I don't think Hart will be drinking again for quite a while

Finally! He got an appointment at 10:30 am today, with his doc, who I don't like, but I'll take it!
