50 years ago, those two black males could of been lynched.

In the early 1940's, God forbid if you were of Japanese ancestry. Now however, Muslims in at least Tennessee and one heck of a time building a Mosque, and I'm certain a fair share of Mosque's in the US have been vandalized, but at least the government isn't locking them up.
