Turned on facebook this morning to read what reads like a suicide letter. A guy about my age just had his heart stomped on by a woman and is saying he is going to end his pain. I tried to offer encouragement but not sure if he will read it.

What I wanted to say and didn't was very coarse but is truthful.

Tell the guy to grow up. One thing to be a love struck teen another to be a grown man. Shit happens. Tell him to make up his mind, do it, or stop talking about it. Life is to short to deal with crap like his.

When you married there is a commitment there which, to me at least. is different than just a hook up. I would take a bullet to save my wife but I would not put a bullet in myself because of her actions.

Then there are the ones who actually do. But they usually don't leave a note.
Then there are the UNDER ACHIEVERS. Those are the ones who just do the superficial shit.

I know of to many people who would love the chance to live and have a life.

If a man wants to kill himself, NO ONE would be able to stop him.

Do it and get it over with (preferably without a mess that a love one would walk into) or get help.

And yes Fred, I'd give my life to save my wife's life, but I would not end my life if she left me (as long as I get the dogs). I'd become a hermit in West Virginia or Idaho LMFAO

The only time I would put my life ahead of ANY one else is for my kids.

Maybe after 25 or 30 year of marriage I would feel different but that type of loyalty is not just given to anyone nor is it expected in return.

Most cases I know of like this it is a cry for attention. Being soft hearted by nature I will give them the benefit of the doubt the first time they make an idle threat. After the first time I am likely to say if you have balls enough make it so.
