Turned on facebook this morning to read what reads like a suicide letter. A guy about my age just had his heart stomped on by a woman and is saying he is going to end his pain. I tried to offer encouragement but not sure if he will read it.

What I wanted to say and didn't was very coarse but is truthful.

"There is not a piece of ass in this world worth dying over."

I hope he takes your advice, there's no one that you should end your life over.

Bit of a sweeping generalisation

I don't think the statistics would change that much from the last time I looked at them. You will find on average that if the female spouse dies first, the husband rarely lives as long as a woman put in the same position (having her spouse die before she does). For some reason, woman last longer then men after their spouse dies.

That said, when my mom died 10 years ago, both myself and my fathers family didn't give my dad more than a year to live after mom died (after being married for 40 years together). !0 years later, he still goes to Alaska and Montana to fly fish every year, still bowls and golfs year round, and tomorrow he's leaving my place for a 8 hour drive back home for him. Go figure LOL

After death maybe but when couples split decades earlier i think men can survive quite well

Wrong.

My wife is worth me dying for.

What you should of said is "no woman is worth taking your life over"

Tell the guy to grow up. One thing to be a love struck teen another to be a grown man. Shit happens. Tell him to make up his mind, do it, or stop talking about it. Life is to short to deal with crap like his.

I think what Fred said was totally fine...
