I go out 2 or 3 nights a week. I don't drink at home. I have a family of male alcoholics, I'm all fucking set with drinking at home.

If you're an alcoholic, it doesnt matter where you drink, you just want the drink. And yes, I am talking from experience.

I disagree with this bit. Your couch isn't gonna introduce you to new people.

But I don't understand the whole "not enough money for a tab" thing... it's not like you spend more money just cuz you're using a tab? It's the same cost if you buy 3 drinks on a tab versus pay for 3 drinks in cash.

Some people tend to drink more and lose track of how much they've spent....

Back when I did frequent bars I preferred to pay as I went v. running a tab. It kept me from getting surprizes at the end of the night. To each his own. Now I either drink at home or possibly have a drink with dinner at a nice restaurant.

I stray from drinking at home 90% of the time because of family history. 3 nights a week, 4 hours 2 nights a week and 2 hours another, hardly makes one an alcoholic but I know what you are saying.

You stay at a bar for 4 hours at a clip twice a week, plus another 2? lol that's a lot IMO, but I guess that's just me...

I think you're missing the point... I don't see wtf the people who say if you cannot afford a tab you shouldn't be drinking are thinking. I fail to see the logic. But these are prob the people that run up a 70 dollar bill. What is wrong with carrying cash? Other than the fact it's easier to lose; it's also easier to keep track of your spending.

Actually, I think you're missing the point. If I call myself "on a budget" that means I'm not expending cash on things that aren't a neccesity. Even in my heavy drinking days, I didn't go out 3 nights a week. Different people have different thoughts on what "on a budget" means just as they have different thoughts on what constitutes a drinking problem.

Alcoholism has nothing to do w/ frequency or location...it's about needing to have that drink. If you look forward to Saturday night all week long b/c you know you get to get falling down drunk, you might just have a problem. I come from a long line of alcoholics and I have to be very careful w/ my drinking. I don't drink very often, but I know that if I come home frustrated from work and need a shot of liquor before I can even get undressed b/c I had a stressful night, that's a problem.

By yourself? IMO... I go out for the social aspect as well as drinking. I don't see the sense in drinking by yourself. Hence why I rarely do it.

I see no problem with having a glass of wine at home alone...it's relaxing.

Alcoholism is not the same for every person. There's no set amount, time-frame, or location that can help identify an alcoholic.

Although, it's safe to say that no American's are alcoholics, because you drink awful beer and "40% proof" really means 20% alcohol. :D :p

So, what is the difference between drinking at home 3 nights a week or drinking in a bar 3 nights a week? 3 nights a week is a lot to me,I rarely drink now but even when I did drink more, it was once or twice every 2-3 weeks sometimes less frequent.

From the ex-bar manager's perspective, I'd just like to say that the lone cheapskate who pays cash is a pain in the ass.

When you've got a steady turnover of a dozen or more tabs running at a time, with groups coming and going, enjoying what their hard-earned dough is all about, the loner who thinks that he's the only customer that matters and the only thing in the world more important than his custom is his approval simply gets in the way.

The world does not revolve around your pathetic attempts to meet women. If you want to impress, buy the best and appreciate it. Live your life to the fullest instead of ruining the vibe by counting the beans. And if you're not earning enough to truly enjoy life, get off your lazy ass and work some more until you have.

Here we go again, Dana getting all defiensive because someone said something he didnt agree with in one of his threads. As far as drinking at home and being a "fucking drunk" as you call it, half the population must be drunks then because I know alot of people that have a glass of wine or a beer when they get home from work sometimes. Also, youve cut down on your nights at the bar from a year ago but you are the last one to be calling someone a fucking drunk if you ask me thats like the pot calling the kettle black.
