If I catch it, yeah sure, I'll give it back, but if it's one round over the course of a night out the server would still be in the gain...I end up tipping like crazy after a few.:)

Why would it make a difference that you're in a bar?

The principle is the same. Someone made a mistake, and you should do the right thing, and give it back to them.

If every single person, cashed in on, every single mistake we made, life would suck. I try to look at it from that perspective, and do what's right in this case.
Sometime's I know I get money back from a store or bar or club and do not look at what I get back only to find out later that I had more money than I know I had before. More than once in the past I've given a bartender a 5 spot and gotten back a 5 and four ones.

Then you probably can't really afford to be in a bar.

Because? I live on a budget. I can't blow 50-60 dollars on a bar tab and I know what happens from experience when you start drinking and run a tab. You keep drinking and before you know it your paying more than expected.

I live on a budget too......it's probably bigger than yours. I find it much easier to work hard and not worry about nickel and dime. Going to a bar should be about time spent, not cash given and change examined.

How would they give you change ? At most bars I could not even tell you how much a drink is. They give me a drink and with the money I get back I give a tip. On a side note if your buying a five dollar drink and they can give you the correct amount of change that is awful.

Honestly I'm a cheap drinker. I buy whatever beer is run on special. I also like the feeling of having cash on me. I'm NOT a fan of plastic. But I have a debit card because it's easy. I don't even own a credit card.

If you were a cheap drinker you would be sitting on the couch at home drinking. Not a bar. I used to set a limit. 200 In cash. I would buy drinks for friend and vice versa. Or any honeys that I meet. Thank god I met my wife. I would still be wasting my money at a bar. I considered it an investment to meet her.

I disagree with this bit. Your couch isn't gonna introduce you to new people.

But I don't understand the whole "not enough money for a tab" thing... it's not like you spend more money just cuz you're using a tab? It's the same cost if you buy 3 drinks on a tab versus pay for 3 drinks in cash.

If drinking on a saturday night is being a drunk I am pretty sure everyone on this forum would be in AA.

Some people tend to drink more and lose track of how much they've spent....

I go out 2 or 3 nights a week. I don't drink at home. I have a family of male alcoholics, I'm all fucking set with drinking at home.

Personally, if you're on a budget, going out half the week is silly. Maybe once a week, on the weekend, but that's plenty IMO.

But that's just my prerogative.

I think you're missing the point... I don't see wtf the people who say if you cannot afford a tab you shouldn't be drinking are thinking. I fail to see the logic. But these are prob the people that run up a 70 dollar bill. What is wrong with carrying cash? Other than the fact it's easier to lose; it's also easier to keep track of your spending.
