He does that.
Bite me you Texican redneck teacher. :fing27
So you got an opinion to offer on the thread topic or did ya just drop by to stroke me?
He does that.
And now that was to happen in the UK, the student wouldn't of been bothered by the law and would of had plenty of help.
Hell even I agreed with him in my first post here in this thread and he wants to argue......Maybe he is trying to extend codependent relationships to the internet? He does that.
She shouldn't be expected to but she does ..shows good character on her part.It was only one night, I really don't think it's a big deal, like someone else already said she shouldn't be expected to support siblings who don't even live with her, judge made the right call IMO.
Teachers at my school would have taken care of her and the judge never would have known.Bite me you Texican redneck teacher. :fing27

She is making the choice to do this, she doesn't HAVE to support them, especially since they don't even live with her. People talk about HER situation, but it isn't HER situation that is bad apparently it is her sibling's situations that are bad, she either needs to lay back on the work, she COULD do that no matter what people are trying to say, the people she's supporting are grown ups themselves apparently and should be trying to support themselves, or she should consider getting here GED and working full time, I really can't feel sorry for her :dunnoShe shouldn't be expected to but she does ..shows good character on her part. She is working 3 jobs...one is the weekend only. But with all that aside....when did we start sending children to jail and fining them for missing school?IMO that more of a family services issue than a criminal issue.Criminal for a child to miss school..I dont approve of the concept in general.Although I would agree with it being a crime for the parent to intentionally let a child miss school. But in this case the parents took off...poor kid..she needs support..not prosecution.I do hope other states dont follow the foot steps of texas
This, also, isn't the first time the judge dealt with her last month with just a warning.
I certainly hope the parents step up and do their damn job!

Hey teach...wouldnt it be the duty of the school to get family services involved {having no parents around}...which I have no objection to {getting family services involved}Teachers at my school would have taken care of her and the judge never would have known.
I've already said the parents should be responsible, but they were dipshits and left. I don't know exactly how courts are supposed to work when it comes to dealing with a minor. I'm guessing someone had to of been there with her to state the parents aren't around, which in turn held the child responsible. No I don't agree with it because it's the parents responsibility to make sure their child is going to school. But part of me wonders if she isn't emancipated because if the judge had already dealt with her, I'd guess that the subject had of came up? But that may not be the case, I don't know. They left.
Shouldnt a parent or guardian have to be present during court hearings etc?....they do here.
Texan laws arent impressing me much at this point.
Surely one of them is an adult if they are currently in college, the other I don't know, but they are living with other relatives, so they are being supported anyways. Maybe to say her situation isn't bad wasn't quite right, but really it seems like she's making it worse on herself than it is, there is no reason for her to be working to support a college student and someone who is already being supported by other relatives, she should be focusing on school. So both siblings are older?...I didnt know this..so they may be adults then and should be helping her.The thing that gets me is the courts are treating her like an adult....rather than order the parents to prevent the child from working so much. Then are also child labor laws...why are they not being applied here.IMO the judge should have took care of the root of the situation rather than punish the child.Arrest the parents to start for child abandonment.I have to disagree with you on her situation..it is still bad IMO...parents skating while still a child in school..thats a bad situation. Then the older siblings taking advantage of little sister..it appears they take after their parents and are POS.If nothing else..she needs someone in her life to come in and take charge...not jail and a fine for missing school.

Has anyone found out if she is emancipated?

I watched again. I'd assumed she was an 18 year old senior but she's a 17 year old junior.Hey teach...wouldnt it be the duty of the school to get family services involved {having no parents around}...which I have no objection to get family services involved
I agree she is bringing some of this on herself as the siblings are older....it shows good character on her part..but she is being taken advantage of here,by the older siblings.
IMO the courts should be going way deep that the missing school and provide foster care and put an order of a limited amount of work hours.
emancipated
Good point...which I could see happening in the event of parents dying etc...but for not parents leaving the children..if nothing else she should be provided foster care while the parents are incarcerated.
Another strike for Texas
They should have dealt with the issue proper a month ago...and get her a home etc.
This indicates to me that the parents are immigrants. different customs; different family expectations, etc.[...] but I feel there must be more as to why she's been able to live with her employer, but yet her sibling is with a family member? That's a bit odd that the family member would only have one with them and not both unless she did get emancipated or simply chose to not stay with the family member, [...]
