It's never been a problem b/c you've never been reported. And the police officers are probably off duty...and I doubt they're animal control units, either.
and ive never been reported cause its never been a problem! IMJ and the officers are on duty. they patrol the neighborhood all the time.

You obviously have closed your mind to any reasoning. I'm glad you've been lucky enough that your dog hasn't injured anybody or gotten run over by a car and killed. I'd get things fixed ASAP if I were you.

I don't know what IMJ means, though. :dunno

For the record I live in a subdivision. My yard is not fenced. I have one side yard fenced off with chicken wire. The rest of the back yard is open. My dog will not leave the yard except to chase an animal. She never goes around to the front yard. So I can let her out back unattended on the back deck and not worry. But I would take my lumps if anybody complained.

In the front yard I let her out to get the newspaper. I have missed seeing people on the sidewalk a few times over the years. I just missed seeing people and feel bad when I do. And I always apologize profusely. When she was young she would jump up on people. She is a yellow lab and would not harm a flea. But I do understand how some people don't like seeing a dog on the loose.

Alien Allen you city boy.... Keep that dog leashed and fence your backyard in. What if the dog chases an animal and doesn't come back? Or someone snatches the dog? You'd be crying the blues my friend. And don't think this can't happen to you.

People who are clueless like you who own pets never cease to amaze me. Just PLEASE tell me that you at least have your dog fixed so it can't reproduce.

It doesn't matter if your dog isn't a problem, your dog should be under your supervision at ALL TIMES.

If your dog is outside, either it should be in a fenced in area, on a lead, or under your supervision.

Our dogs NEVER leave our property, and if outside, they are either under our direct supervision, or if left outside, they go into the fenced in area.

She speaks the truth. I was dangerously close to having to explain to the Chief of Police that I lost his drug dog b/c I didn't put her on a lead when I let her out to pee. Fucking Deena!!! :mad

um, well yeah cause its never been a problem for the 2 years we've had her. if it was, then the city cops who live in my neighborhood would stop and tell us something when they see us everyday outside and when they pass her roaming around. instead they wave at us and go on about their business.

Thus proving how irresponsible you were to begin with.

I also feel the need to add...police officers have more important things to do than handle dog calls. Ask any veteran patrol officer and they'll tell you that their 2 most hated call types are dog calls and juvenile problems.

I will say, Dachshunds are by nature very vicious dogs. They're bred to spook up small prey. Yours may not be vicious, and I'm not saying I wouldn't be annoyed if I got reported for something, because I would. Even when we are wrong it burns a bit, so I give you that.

BUT: just as a person who loves dogs and knows a good deal about breeds, if I had my pick of dogs to run across unleashed, a Dachshund would not be high on the list lol. I remember two of them used to live by me as a kid, and I would be scared shitless of them. They make a terrible noise, and they are relentless when they go after you. Small or not, they can give people a start, especially people who don't like dogs.

I'd definitely go up to your house first and not report if it were me, but he may be genuinely terrified of it? And if she's always off the leash it may not be easy to do. And I'd hate to pay rent and not be able to bike down a certain street. Who knows...

I shall be moving in the next couple months and I want a fenced in yard

My dog is ok in the back yard. Not like I leave her out there for more than a few minutes to sniff around. When I let her out front I am always on the watch until she brings back the paper. That is because she gets that damn nose going overtime and has to sniff up and down the sidewalk. She never goes past the property line.

You are right I would devastated if something bad happened. I got it under control....

I can't help but think that even though nobody has said anything to your face for 2 years, have you ever thought that they might actually be annoyed by your dog and are just too nice to say anything. Especially if it lays in the middle of the road!!
