Is it reasonable for my parents to refuse to help me buy a car?

I also find it hard to believe that almost everyone who posted here didn't get ANYTHING from their parents after they turned 18. Could be wrong, but i doubt it.

*ahem* Believe my post SAID that my parents helped me through college. IJS ;)

I do.
I do.
I do.

Maybe you didn't read my post but I pay for EVERYTHING ON MY OWN. I welcome different insight, but there's no need to be rude.

For some reason I don't believe you.

As for "staying out of their financial lives", I don't have to go very far. I have to listen to my parents scream at each other over simple money issues because they don't have the common sense to create a budget (or let me help them make one). As long as they're going to throw their money away, they may as well let me tap into a stream of it for something that is actually needed/useful.

You don't have to listen to anything. If you already pay for all your own shit then avoid the racket and move out. Don't forget the van. Your problems will be solved.

'Bout time you got here. Was wondering when you were going to weigh in. :p

From what I read, I'm very thankful for the parents I had.

I paid for my own college, but they helped with rent while I still worked (during and off school).

I had three options when I turned 18, and ironic enough, I ended up doing all three.

Don't get me wrong, when I was a teenager my dad and I more than a couple occasions almost came to blows, but I was young and dumb, and they REALLY hated it when the cops use to show up LMAO. Mom passed away some time ago but the 80 year old man still takes an 8 hour drive to visit me every month and I love him dearly.

My son still likes to hear the story about how gramps use to go after his dad with the tire iron LOL

My parents were broke. I've only been able to go to school thanks to financial aid and loans. I moved out of their house 4 months after I turned 18, and aside from a short stint at home to take care of my brother after he was in the hospital. Other than that, everything I've gotten has been thanks to myself or my boyfriend, or thanks to our wonderfully gracious government. ;)

I don't plan on buying my kids a car. Mine didn't buy me one.

They offered you a vehicle, I'd take it. You don't need a flashy car, just need to get to a and b.
