True enough, but to be fair, it shouldn't be worn unbuttoned with the undershirt hanging out and certainly not with ribbons. But, as you say, he's a vet and not active. He can wear whatever & however he wants. Lord knows he's earned it.Shamar Thomas is a veteran, not active duty. He can wear what he pleases.
If you had actually served in the military, you'd have never made this statement.
He was wearing the top portion of the Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform (MCCUU)called a "blouse" by the Marines - They are worn untucked:

I love the hypocrisy on both sides of The Party. How easily they switch sides of the issue without missing a beat. This group is exercising their right of free speech, but that group is a bunch of thugs who should be arrested and thrown in jail. Ready ... Switch! This group is a bunch of thugs who should be arrested and thrown in jail, but that group is exercising their right of free speech.
My reading is that he is supposed to wear the uniform the same as when on active duty. Which he seemed to be in violation of.

Hmmm. Maybe these OWS protesters are going about it all wrong...![]()
If you don't see the difference between the groups you are not paying attention
And to answer Poopas question about whether the Nam protests shortened the war. There are two sides to that coin depending upon ones view. Personally I don't see where they did much other than to provide the enemy with a sense we would give up eventually. Which we did. Nixon made his deal and then we left never to return.
You may think my comments indicate that I am against the Wall St. protests but you will not see where I have indicated that. I am just pointing out some things which I see and have an opinion on. Good for them doing what they are doing but they control the temp of this and not the police. When you are a few police in comparison when faced with a large crowd that is a magnet for bad things to happen.
I also am not backing Wall St. either for the record. They took us to the cleaners. But if you think only marching there will have impact then you are asking for a miracle. The govt gave the banks an absurd bailout that still gives the banks incentives on the foreclosures. The govt did not do a damn think to clean this up and they are equally responsible. Do you really think anything will happen unless the govt is squeezed? Even then it will take more than having a protest in lower Manhatten to accomplish much if anything.
They have blasted the politicians just as hard.Moveon.org is not welcome here. They are one of the many reasons Occupy Wall Street exists: Big money in politics. They are a "bandwagon" organization, corrupt opportunists who have no qualms about co-opting OWS.
Go check their website. Look a little 'co-opty' to you?
It would be highly advisable to give Moveon.org the "Geraldo Treatment" if you see them and their booths at any of our protests.
Moveon.org, the political parties, and billionaires -- have no place in this movement. It is contrary to their interests, and contrary to ours. Think about it.
Occupy Together
Latest count brings us to 231 public spaces being occupied by people reclaiming their communities. 1911 locations organizing and taking place in solidarity actions.
Here is a good read about the top ten myths of OWS

One of the most striking images I witnessed at the demonstration was a young black man holding a sign that read "End NYPD Violence!" in front of a group of police officers.
The officers quickly challenged his accusation. But the young man didn't leave. Next, the police turned away and ignored him. But he still didn't leave. Then the officers chuckled and let out an unexpected laugh when they realized the man wasn't going away. The scene was confrontational, but definitely not violent.
You know as well as I do that some of the people like this guy are playing a game of chicken hoping to goad the police into doing something. It could be they like a confrontation, or they want to get beat up and then sue the city, or a number of other reasons in addition to making a legitimate point. Creating a confrontation is asking for trouble. One can protest without being an ass and trying to see how many buttons you can push. IMO
You in support of direct democracy Tim?
You are right and that is what is happening to marginalize both protests. I have been to a local tea party event back a year ago or so. It was very casual. There was no shouting and screaming and stuff that has been attributed to the tea party. I am sure the same is going on for OWS for the most part. How do we filter out this crap when that is what enemies of the movement want every body to notice? The problem with this movement is that with such a large and diverse group you are going to get crazies from all walks joining in. And that's fine as long as the main movement can distance themselves properly. And they have distanced themselves very nicely with public statements denouncing violence and such.
You can't go to these protests and interview the few crazies and say it fairly represents the movement. Not for this or for other groups like the tea party.
This movement though seems to have in it quite a lot that support a direct democracy. Which to me would create chaos. I could see one party enacting laws and then 2 years later every body is pissed and they vote em out and then the new crew comes in and changes things back and then the public gets pissed and you end up with groundhog day. Problem is you have about one third that are far right and one third far left in this country. That leaves it up to the middle third who go which ever the way the wind is blowing half the time.I support democracy as we have it set up. A representative republic should still work for the people and not for the few whole have enough money to purchase their own representatives...
