God In Public Schools

I'm not sure their is a definitive answer to this question. I think it depends on where you live. If you live in a bible thumping ultra conservative place you probably advocate god in the classroom. If you're in a more liberal free thinking place, you probably advocate for religion to be left OUTSIDE the classroom.
 
we had a problem here in one of our towns, kids in a middle school were sent to visit a mosque. Parents were outraged, teachers defended it as a teachable lesson about religion. yes, religions of the world need to be taught, but I think should be done as an overview not a pushing of one religion over another. Naturally people are curious about religions and how they differ, but I personally think that this should be taught at a level when a person can make a choice what is best for their lives.

See... Thats nonsense... Getting in a tizzy about kids visiting a mosque and learn about different cultural beliefs is fine, just as long as they aren't pushing anything on them. Hell knows a religious private school isn't going to teach religious equality.
 
at my sons graduation i was pissed off about the prayer before we ate. the one reason i put my son in the public system was to get away from religion. i come from a catholic background and an Anglican back ground ...the catholic system i was flung into forced its shitty bible thumping ways and i swore i would NEVER do the same to my son.

how ever even in the public sector you have the born agains or the jehovah's or the i don't give a fucks that think it is their right to force me and mine to think act and do in their make believe bloody religious bigotry. they can shove their religion up their arse. religion should be a personal choice. if you believe then go to church on sunday and have at it, but don't force the rest of us.

I found the religion part of my son's graduation a complete insult to my own personal beliefs....public is public, not separate, not jew, not anything related to fucking religion.

Well, the Freshmen in the school where I teach come in thinking that Catholics don't like Christians because their gods say different things ... so society is safe for now. ;)
 
I do not want my kids being taught anything in school about a religion, if they are going to teach one... they damn well better teach them all, and being there isn't enough time in the school day to do such... I will pull my kids out of any school that brings religion into their education.

Religion should be personal and found through self exploration.

It's kind of hard to teach about world history or cultures without addressing religion.
