In the US, the more money you have, the greater the chances you'll be found not guilty.

NEVER assume that the prosecution is looking for the "truth" and that by chance if they find evidence that will hurt their case, they will bring it forward to the defense.

Heck, here in NC, the SBI crime lab is finding some of their own men on the other side of the fence now in the court system LOL

I'm sorry, didn't realise it's a problem here...oh wait...we realised that 50 odd years ago.

There are plenty of countries that still employ the death penalty... yet you chose to single the United States out. Which doesn't come as a surprise, because that's what you do on a fairly regular basis. That was my only point.

Where did this appalling miscarriage of justice happen? Oh yeah, THE UNITED STATES. People on this forum from the US are always defending the death penalty so that was my point. Quit being so over sensitive about this.

I'm not being oversensitive in the least bit. I was merely pointing out the fact that you take every opportunity that you can to, how do you Brits put it? Oh yeah, slag off on the US.

Only in your mind because you're over sensitive about this. Why are you so insecure about what others think of the country you live in?

It's hardly just me that notices it, not that it particularly matters.

I do agree that this is an obvious reason why the death penalty should be abolished globally. I might be able to support it in a very limited fashion, in a situation where the crime was horrific and the guilt of the perpetrator was unassailable. Even then though, I don't really know.

I like ya Peter and I don't want to live in Englad. I do believe in the death penalty and yeah sometimes our justice system doesn't work. Yes the rich can afford better defense than the poor. Yes the South is much harder on criminals that the North. I do believe in the right to have a gun and I want my police armed. My two cents though nobody asked ;)

Don't believe that the death penalty deters crime, but the fact is that some men who act on others don't deserve to live. Not saying it's right or wrong, just a fact. It's not a question of stopping future aggression, just not worth the money to spend on some.

It was a little sobering to see three middle-aged men sitting there, and then read that this began when they were all teenagers.

I can hardly pass judgement on whether or not they did it, but if you're innocent then spending arguably the best years of your youth locked away is a terrible thing.

Well the first guy, especially really looks like just a boy. If they didn't do it, it is a terrible shame. Can you imagine what they went thru going into prison looking like that? Especially the first two? Shudder.

Watch the documentary film about the trial, Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills. Absolutely disgusting how these boys were convicted in the first place.
