It's funny how people give little to no thought of respect to these people. People can't comprehend why they don't get orders right and why stuff takes so long, blah blah blah...

I wonder if they're actually that stupid or just want to be difficult. Well, let them remain difficult and ignorant because they're not the ones who have the power of their own food.

Let's look at some points.

1) It's difficult to remain motivated and positive at a minimum wage dead-end job.

2) They're not trained to be individual thinkers in the workplace.

3) It's a hectic environment where creative solutions are a resource. That can create alot of inaccuracy.

So in essence what is there not to respect? They have a difficult job that pays like shit and that nobody wants and they keep this country running because we're all too fucking lazy to pack our breakfast and lunches...

Respect them or have your food spit in.

The golden rule should apply to everyone reguardless of their employment

I'd like to respect the workers at the KFC near me, but I just can't. Basically every time I go in, the place is either empty or near empty, yet I still wait 5-10 minutes for my meal. And the person after me waits the same. Are they killing a live chicken out back and killing it? So no, terrible customer service does not correlate to getting respect from me, or anyone else, and nor should it.

The Mcdonalds near me on the other hand has a lot more traffic, is always busy when I go in and always has my meal there promptly, I can respect that because that's what fast food means.

But don't east fast food a lot, I have it once a month, it's nearly all bad for you.

I dont care if you pick up dog shit for a living, everyone should take pride in their work, kind of see your point though, my sister used to work at Muccy Ds and I couldn't put up with the shit she did. If someone spoke to me like a peice of shit like a lot of these drunken chavs do, I'd jump over the counter and knock them out! On the other side, a lot of fast food workers really are stupid cunts who deserve to be yelled at.

I won't deny that it's admirable of them to choose that kind of job, especially if they can't apply anywhere else, but out of all the possible times you've probably got your order messed up, you never once thought to yourself, "Hey, I paid for my burger to be a certain way, not like this"? It's understandable, but at the same time, it CAN be frustrating, especially if it happens often at the same restaurant.

It seems like people notice that fast food workers piss off there job more than other workers...post office people are the laziest bastards I've ever seen. Lawyers know they're the ones in charge because you need them so they're cocky, but still very generally respected.

My idea is that people think you're not as respect worthy if you don't have the power. They know they can get away with treating you like garbage even if "respect worthy" people do the same...

it's a fucking shame

The thought has never crossed my mind because if I wanted it my way I would've made it myself. It's fast food...how picky can you possibly be over a fucking hamburger?

We get a bit of a divide in my town. Maccy D's in staffed by white students. KFC is staffed by middle aged asian men. Subway is staffed by Polish guys.

I'm not kidding, that's what it's like where I live, though I've no idea why it's come about that way.

Anyway, to the point - I don't care why you're working where you're working. If I'm paying for food and I ask for it a certain way, it should come out a certain way. They're not doing me a favour, I'm handing over money to receive goods prepared as I specify. If I get gherkins and ketchup when I asked to keep them off, why shouldn't I be annoyed exactly?

Now there's a difference between that and treating someone like a cunt before you've given them the opportunity to get anything wrong at all. I'm not rude to people in restaurants or fast food places, but if they get my order mixed up then I'm going to complain about it, not say 'oh well, they're probably stressed and it sure is hectic back there, it doesn't matter'. If it were free, fine. But it's not. I don't give a shit about service with a smile, I don't care if they don't try and engage me in pleasant conversation, all I expect them to get right is my motherfucking order.

General rule, never piss off the people who are serving you your food. If you must piss them off, leave, don't eat the food, and never go back.

My general thought is, I don't see how anyone who has ever worked in food service/retail/customer service could ever disrespect a worker in that arena after that experience.

Maybe it's my personality alone, or the people in my region, but there is nothing worse than being ordered around about fries or Advil, or something asinine like that, by moronic entitled people for minimum wage while your name is pinned to your body. Give me a ditch to dig, shit to shovel (I did do janitorial work for a bit and I'd take that any day over retail).

I worked retail for 5 years and I always give people the benefit of the doubt on mistakes, and don't take it personal if their attitude is a bit off (not blatant rudeness).

And with this health food craze (UM, is this burger gluten free? is this chicken healthy? fuckawf) and the couponing craze (I have 456 coupons that are all expired or hacked off the internet that your machine won't read but I will demand you make them work with my entitled middle aged self while your line builds up to Nicaragua teehee) I say we give service workers weapons. :24:

I've never been so rude that I'm worried someone will spit in my food.
But if I pay for food a certain way I will let you know there's an issue. It's the response of the person taking care of the issue that determines how the rest of the situation plays out. If a server/manager/what have you gets pissy with me because I just nicely let them know the order was wrong...it's on lol.

And no I won't lower my standards on how I want food. Maybe I'm allergic to something they normally put on that food and I can not have it on there. They put it on the food and I'm fucked. So if I want something fixed it won't be an issue.

If I take the time to chose your business, wait in line, pay, wait in line some more, then the order better be right. Same goes for even the highest of high class restaurants.

I agree with you, and when they screw up I dont take it out on anyone. I just go back and ask that they fix it.

It's part of their job to fix mistakes. I know some of them are definitely assholes to people kindly asking for what they paid for, but I've always seen way too many people kicking the dog, so to speak.

I can't believe I just read this. How long do you think it takes to cook chicken compared to a meat patty you can damn near see through? Besides that McGutBomb precooks a ton of their meat in peak periods and keeps it in a nice yellow plastic tray.
