Racist 'Wigger Day' (Discretion Advised)

You're clearly not grasping the fact that I said it is okay to say in an adult, serious discussion. I never said it was okay to just throw around.

Spare me your "you're clearly not grasping...." bullshit. I never said anything about throwing it around. Why can't you have an intelligent conversation with the individuals I mentioned before?

It is you who truly does not GRASP that it is in fact NOT okay to use that word. Why would you need to discuss the word? Why not just discuss racial comments in general without being specific?

To be fair, many arguments could be settled quickly if people could discuss and agree on the definitions of the words they're using. Obviously my definition of racist or racism doesn't match Pete's or Anita's.

I use the definitions as defined in the freeonline dictionary:

1. (Sociology) the belief that races have distinctive cultural characteristics determined by hereditary factors and that this endows some races with an intrinsic superiority over others
2. (Sociology) abusive or aggressive behaviour towards members of another race on the basis of such a belief

What definition do you use?

Please calm down.

I would be open to using the word with them if they wanted to, but your situation was set up for me to say it to them out of the blue. It's not like I'd go up to a group of black dudes and yell "Hey niggers!". I mean shit, do you really think that is what I am talking about here?

It is not okay to use the word in an insulting way. It is okay to use the word in a serious discussion.

you guys are being hilarious about stepping on eggshells around this word.

I am completely calm. :)

It's not about walking on eggshells. It's about being respectful and classy. Regardless of your reasoning for wanting to use it, I feel it is inappropriate to say PERIOD.

Wigger Day = completely stupid.
Wigger = an unfortunate word we don't need, just like it's root word.
The whole ghetto culture, for lack of a better phrase = sad to me, it should not be exploited by the better off, no matter what color. I think poor people can be worth so much more than ghetto culture, but they certainly don't.

There is something incredibly off-putting about, for instance (I know this girl), a white, middle class girl with "Thug Lyfe" tattooed on her boobs. Aside from my pure hatred for tit tattoos, it makes NO sense for a decent off white girl to parade around pretending she knows what it's like to be a poor black person.

People are ridiculous though. I think something like Wigger Day is less offensive to black people and more offensive to the white people who fit the bill. It is, afterall, specifically a slander against white people alone, regardless of the fact it takes it's root from a horrible term for black people.

That definition doesn't fit your previous one:

Yes. It's [one black person calling another person Uncle Tom] generally used as an insult so to imply than a black person, by accepting a white culture is somehow inferior, is racist.
