Racist 'Wigger Day' (Discretion Advised)

Racist 'Wigger Day'
(Huffpost-AOL)
A Minnesota school district allowed a homecoming event called "Wigger Day," during which students wore clothes and behaved in a manner that "from their perspective, mimicked black culture," according to a federal class action lawsuit filed against the district on Friday.

* I hope the link works but is this racist ?
What about the name " Wigger " ?
comments ? *

I've never heard of the term, possibly because my school is 99% Mexican - oops, Hispanic, I mean Latino, I mean ... - and they all dress in big jerseys, baggy pants and wear their baseball caps sideways. I noted that almost all of them left the labels on the caps. I asked one kid in class if it was so he could return it to Wal mart after school. That got a big laugh.

From the article: "Wigger is a pejorative slang term for a white person who emulates the mannerisms, language and fashions associated with African-American culture," the complaint explains.

The pejorative is for the emulators, not the black kids, so how is it racist? Is it also racist for a black person to call another black person an "Uncle Tom"?

I don't like the term. I don't like when blacks call themselves niggers-which some of my tenant's friends do. I don't think a prom should have such a thing as a theme. I hope that person suing does get some money. Those school officials are idiots! Take it out of their salaries.

While I can see why this is racist, I wouldn't mind if non-white folk did a day where they all wore high riding trousers, thick rimmed glasses and drove about hunched over the steering wheel.
