I think it's racist. Although it sounds like the students were acting on their own without faculty approval. So a student suing the school for $75,000 seems extreme to me.

Perhaps the idea is to aim high with the amount so if there's a monetary award,it will be adjusted to what the victim wants...probably knocked down to $25,000.

...Say for instance as a example you are suing for $100.000...
You would asked for $150.000 and chances are the court/jurors may considered it too high and maybr award what you actually asked for...the $100.000.

I've never heard of the term, possibly because my school is 99% Mexican - oops, Hispanic, I mean Latino, I mean ... - and they all dress in big jerseys, baggy pants and wear their baseball caps sideways. I noted that almost all of them left the labels on the caps. I asked one kid in class if it was so he could return it to Wal mart after school. That got a big laugh.

The pejorative is for the emulators, not the black kids, so how is it racist? Is it also racist for a black person to call another black person an "Uncle Tom"?

Yes. It's generally used as an insult so to imply than a black person, by accepting a white culture is somehow inferior, is racist.
