What's so hard about; "Jeeze! I screwed up! I'm really sorry for offending you girls here. I didn't mean for this thread to hurt feelings. I was thoughtless and I apologize."

It's called being stubborn and not wanting to admit being in the wrong.

Hard for those who are stubborn. I'm not saying it is alright to do so though

You are obviously not a stubborn person. I am. So I know it is hard.
I am not sticking up for him. What he said was wrong.

I can be very stubborn. When I KNOW I didn't screw up, I won't apologize for any reason. However, if I did make a mistake, "I'm sorry" is about the first thing out of my mouth.

However, when I'm right, I don't back down to anybody.

How can his opinion be wrong?

Insensitive, idiotic or rude... Yeah, but not wrong...

Why is it that any topic that talks about women's weight, shape or appearance (especially when it comes to pregnancy weight) is automatically flamed? Opinions, likes and dislikes can't be discussed without the topic turning into all out war.
You can make fun of a fat guy, a skinny girl, a gay Mexican, crack whore or any other group... but mention a flabby girl in a bikini and have an entire forum jump down your throat...

He made a distasteful comment... he didn't rape a young boy.... :dunno

When it is to do with when women have had a baby, I'm not surprised this thread didn't go down well.
Most of us have had kids, and have gone through the "jiggy stomach" stage, and it isn't any fault of ours.

So yes, what he said was wrong. If you want me to go to town, then fine, okay.

He was rude, stupid, idiotic. Is that better?

Like I said before, I'm not defending him... but just go reread the progression of the thread.

I spirals down the rabbit hole from his insensitive opinion...

Like I said, any other topic and this thread wouldn't have gone anywhere...

I read it from the beginning. I wouldn't have commented otherwise. It would be like reading the last half of a book, and not really knowing what the story was about.

I just found it strange from all the feedback here, why mine was quoted, because I used the word 'wrong'

The thing is, because alot of us females have been in this situation, and this thread was more an outburst to all women who has a 'jiggy stomach' which we have gone through. Obviously it was bound to happen. Because the aftermath of having a baby is not something we can control. So to say that basically we should hide our jiggy stomach from the world because it is not attractive, is very wrong.

Do I make sense?

I didn't mean to single you out... seriously. It was just an easy post to grab and quote to make my point. So don't take my posts personally. :)

I understand now. It is just a sensitive thing for females.

Hell has no fury like a woman scorned ;)

Basically this thread proved that shallow does not discriminate.

No it doesn't, does it?

Hell, can you remember the thread about some fat guy on the bus and how since he took up two seats he should pay double?

you had no problem making fun of him...right?

Did he have a wide load sticker on his back?

So before you call anyone else shallow, maybe you can go reread that thread and compare all the people who made fun of that fat guy (who was a real person) to the ones who feigned fake outrage in this thread over someones opinion (on a non-existent person)

Dana is a polemicist. Some scolded him personally, but like most statements from polemicists, the responses veer from the original point, and people get emotionally tangled in other issues related to the statement...it really becomes less about the person's original statement and more about the emotionally sticky issues the statement brings up.

Which is the whole point! (Tokenz) :p

I make a lot of joking comments but I certainly do not start the kind of threads which are geared to get an outrageous response. Of course Tim you seem to have a better memory of my posts than I do. Do you have an issue with me? Most days I come here to have a laugh or two and usually succeed. If my posts irritate you then may be you should skip my posts.

Problem is, being fat can be down to the persons fault, unless it is a medical condition. But poking fun is still not acceptable. Having a wobbly belly after pregnancy is uncontrolled.

Aimed at non existent person or not... there are people who has suffered this, namely half the women on this forum. So it is still something that is said that people here suffer.

Sorry just my opinion. Not an aim at you personally.

I don't have any problem with you at all... but you spoke directly to my point, so I felt the need to point it out.

We have all made fun of other people at one time or another, yes, even me. We have all stated insensitive opinions over the years, some more than others. Yet when it comes to overweight women, all hell breaks loose. People bring up anorexic models, media ads with skinny women, yadda, yadda, yadda......
Like I said before, this forum can talk about any group of people without reproductions except this one....

I do not see this board ever being totally politically correct. I know I certainly am not PC. I have some strong opinions and keep most of them to myself. Did you mean repercussions? I still see the OP for this thread as extremely shallow. As men we have no way of grasping certain things women deal with like periods & cramps & childbirth & after baby fat. I am okay without having those experiences.
