How often do you all go out? This is more aimed toward parents of younger kids... And to parents of grown children, how often did you go out when they were little? I got told off the other day because this girl apparently thinks I spend too much time going out? I only go out ALONE about 2 *maybe* 3 times a month, and I'm only gone for a few hours (3-5) at night. Then I look at other parents my age with kids younger than my son who are out a lot more often, like once or twice a week and stay out all night.

So my question would be, what did/do you think is too much, too little, just enough *ME* time when your kids were younger?

Re: Parent

You go out a little more than my ex and I used to, but not a lot. I can see my fiancee and I being on the schedule like you because we are much closer to grandparents/babysitters than my ex and I were (16 miles out in the country)

Being out all night a couple times a week? That's fucking nuts.

Well, my mom and dad love having my son so close, so they don't mind watching him every once in a while for me. If I were farther, I'd definitely be out waaay less lol.

And yeah, it is nuts, but no one seems to look at them badly or says anything to them. Is it because I'm a single mom? lol I don't get it :dunno

If you have someone to look after them while you are gone i see nothing wrong with once a week to be honest.

For myself, its once a month normally. I'd love once a week if I could....and that's saying so long as a person is functional and happy the next day and not hungover from being a twat mind you.

Sounds like the one criticizing you has issues and is jealous, tell them to get stuffed. I hate fucktards who think their life and parenting skills are somehow better than any one else.

I have no kids but I think you should bitch slap your friend.

I agree with this.

The single mom thing could be part of it, but that's kinda the norm today. Who gives a fuck what they think. You are not neglecting your child.... but that two nights a week out all night... is nuts. Assuming grandparents have the kid(s)... that's abusing the availability of a babysitter which I WILL NOT do... even if they want them that much... grow up... you had kids now act like adults.., you are not in college partying now... even though u may be in college lmao

She's not even a mother yet. lol She doesn't even know how to put a baby in a car seat and she's telling me how to be a parent! lol.

 Right, they tell me that when they leave the kids it's usually with grandma and grandpa. I hate asking my parents because they've done their share of raising kids, just like any other parent. Why would they wanna have to make a habit of watching YOUR kids every night while YOU'RE out partying? lol I'm considerate of my parents so I try not to go out without my son.

When I was single I went out maybe 2-4 times a month.. ONLY because my kids were with their dad on the weekends I was off and I was depressed, etc (Needed some girl time). Now, Zach and I get out maybe once a month.. I really hope to up that tho cuz we need some us time.

And could a mod change the title of my thread to "Parents" lol. -_-

DONE! :)

If you're out shaking your ass and your kid is sitting home in a crappy diaper, you're out too much.

If that isn't the case, carry on. ;)

lol Thanks.

And I know what you mean about needing to get out. Dean's dad isn't around at all though so I can really only leave him with my parents. I could definitely use some girl time! lol

I know I liked having that time away. It kept me sane. If you go out every night on every weekend, its probably too much.. but not occassionally

And girl, since your single, you gotta have that time to get your groove thing on (am i showing my age with that comments?)

Seems like you are doing it the way I think you should and we all know that's what matters right? lmao

Darrell summed it up well too!

lmao Thank you :p And yes, he did sum it up well. :D

It wasn't just a question though. I'm genuinely interested in what other parents are like. And it's not for judgment of anyone, just a general curiosity :)

As long as your going out is not hurting your child in any way, I see nothing wrong with going out once a week. For me, when my kids were little I didn't go out very much. But that was because I didn't have babysitters readily available and I didn't want to leave them with just anyone. But like Veronica said, girl time is very important when you have little ones. So have fun, be good and don't worry.:)

When my son was very little the out was together with my child ..

i could ask my inlaw to look after him but i was trying to ask as little times as possible
i can count on my one had fingers how many time i left him

once was when he was under 1

after that a lot of problems happen and she had the nerve to tell me i dont look after my son when others around she ment when her son was at home .. :(

I didn't work and was all day home with my son and all night.
we were not going out either ..my husband outing was most of the time drive at night with the car and back home ..
I could not understand a lot of English so was not easy to have friends at that time
anyway so when he was home i was taking a little break while he play a little with the child... and a lot of times to do work in the house that was not easy with a baby
so she was seen this i was dropping him to my husband
so i made sure only to leave him for very important time with her .. as i had no choice for that but was for few hours only and not for going out
and anyway my son never liked her he was crying with her :D

I see nothing wrong to go out sometimes you need a break wish i had that
even once a week not bad for few hours if you can
