... future murderer there.... people who hurt animals are on the next step to hurting humans and should be put down like we would a rabid dog. I'd love to have a go at any one who hurts animals. I'd kick the shit out of them.this is horrendous animal cruelty

Depending on the sentence/scenario/diagnosis, she could be institutionalized and basically locked up, but receiving medication and therapy intended to improve her behaviors. She may just have a personality disorder that requires some psychiatric fine tuning- she's young enough for intervention.
She deserves punishment if she is not found incompetent, but just throwing a mentally ill person in the cut throat world of jails/prisons can lead to more violent reactions once they're out.
She won't get the electric chair for this, nor life in prison...the point is, she will be back on the streets! How do ya want her? Traumatized in jail or given a decent shot at fixing her fucked head?
That's how I see it, at least.
Often, I sit on the opposite side of the table than you, in regard to criminals.
However, this young lady is 14. If she can get proper help early, there is a good chance she can still be a productive member of society.
She isn't going to get the rehab she needs in Prison.
I think the punishment should really be based on a psychiatric evaluation. That will really give the most clarity.
What exactly will Psychiatric help do for her? Will they teach her to behave correctly? Will medication do the trick? How can someone be taught that their behavior is wrong and change it?

i would imagine it would make them worse, it might deepen her hatred and actually encourage her to be more aggeressive in the future
sure there are programs designed to help offenders rehabilitate but when deeply damaged as she must be to be able to torture a dog in this way, i belive she shoudl be out of jail an in psychiatric care
I totally agree this is disturbing but after reading the story I stopped and read it again..
There were a few things that really bothered me about this..
Let's deal with the 14 year old first. The article says she was "mad at the puppy" but does not elaborate as to why ?
No where in the article does it say the 14 year old have or had prior issues with the law or why she was even mad at the puppy. From this article you can't tell if the 14 year old had been bitten, pushed over and hurt by the dog or was even if it was an autistic child..
The 43 year old woman waited at least one day before taking the dog to the vet ? If that was me I would have calling the SPCA.. I checked her area and they have one as well as many animal rescue centres..
http://www.hsmo.org/
So why would she have been afraid to call the SPCA to rescue this dog that would obviously be in great pain..
Too much does not add up here and being a very lax article of reporting I find it interesting that people are ready to lynch the kid without all the facts..
Perhaps when all the details are out we shall find out this was a very bad child and a poor puppy, but I find this article and report to leave way to much out to determine that right now.. IMO this is what I think of this news reporting. :thumbdown
IDGAF.. She lit the fucking dog on fire. The dog could of bitten her yes. i've been jumped on by dogs and shit but I never fucking lit them on fire. IF she was some special needs child and I say IF because you're reaching here. Then where the fuck was the parent in this situation when this happened?I totally agree this is disturbing but after reading the story I stopped and read it again..
