I also enjoy doing cross stitch.

Now that cross stitch stuff requires patience. My sister did one as a gift for Mrs.Guyzerr and it too her a few years. There has to be a gazillion stitches in it. We have it framed and hanging on our wall. It's a shot of an pretty lady in an old dress holding an umbrella.

Your bankies are cool as well. Brings back memories of my Mennonite roots. :thumbup

Great stuff Guy and Wow what talent Zirc.

Me I'm not a real creative type. I collect a lot of Betty Boop stuff. I don't think you can call skydiving a hobby and haven't done it in a few years. I read a lot a real lot, is that a hobby. I used to Volksmarch a lot, that's 10K walks all over the place, mostly the NW, but I even took a cruise w/my ex-hubby's ex-wife that went all over Europe to do volksmarches.

I volunteered at lot of things, but that's not a hobby.

Now I play video poker, get on here and work on our property as often as weather allows.

You guys do some really cool stuff :)

When I was little I collected teddy bears. I don't really have any pictures, though I bet my dad does, but I had some proper Steiff bears and everything. I didn't really collect stamps, but some well meaning aunt gave me a stamp collecting book and a pack of them, so I liked putting them in the book and looking at them... just had no interest in taking it any further!

My hobbies are also to do with collecting things. I've been accused of running a Knick Knack shop at times. :)

I collect dolls (glass/porcelain ones too), horse items (brass, porcelain, glass, etc.), bears, clowns, baskets, crystal items, and various other knick knacks that caught my eye.

I also love to make stuffed animals, curtains/valances, sewing of any kind.... and I write short stories and am working on a novel.... still.

Nice work Zirc :D:thumbup

I love doing cross stitch too. I have one of a Rice terraces , an angel and some Precious moments :D I'll try to find the pics of the rice terraces and post soon ;)

I only have two pieces of advice. One is for your son to join a club and hook up with a certified instructor. To do it any other way is simply too expensive and dangerous. It won't cost him anything except the dues for the club and insurance which is cheap. Instructors don't charge in a club setting. The second bit of advice is don't start off with something fancy. He's got to start off with a proper trainer so he can learn the basics. As his flying skills increase the type of plane he flies will change. There's a lot more to it than what meets the eye but if he can walk and chew gum at the same time he can learn to fly.

One last thing. They all end up destroying themselves at some point in their life. All it takes is a sneeze or fart at the wrong time and it's all over. The up side to that is once you get to the level I acheived it rarely happens unless it's a part failure. It's all part of the hobby.

Thanks for the tips . My son sure does have a lot of patience when he puts himself into making things. He loves building model planes etc but have gotten frustrated as they don't last as long as he wants them to be :(

What's the name of those clubs? Where do we get that info? Maybe browse online for building flying toy planes? OR do any of those stores that sell model planes have suggestions of such clubs?

TOYS ! That's mistake # 1.

The local hobby shop where he buys his stuff is a great source to find clubs in your area. Speaking of area where do you live? If you don't want to say on-line send me a pm. I'll do some digging for you.

If he gets proper instruction as a pilot in a full sized plane would do his chances of crashing diminish. It's after someone learns to fly properly that they become cocky and take chances. That's how one learns and becomes more proficient though. We all had our share of crashes.

Oh yes, he deifintely loves crashing those planes. The last helicopter he built which we bought online for about $100+, it only lasted for a week. It crashed on a concrete sidewalk :eek There goes the $100 bucks - broken to pieces :(

I'll pm you of my location. Thanks mucho :thumbup
